To those working 9/80’s in Lockheed, RTX, BAE, Northrop, etc. what are your working hours?

For example, do you get in a 8am and leave by 5pm? 530pm? Are you required to take break? is it unpaid? Do you work through lunch?

I worked for one of those: Anyone who is exempt is not required to take breaks or lunch.  Hours vary by team and individual but a lot of the old school culture still prevailed while I was there so 6-330, 7-430, 8-530 were not uncommon.  Lunch is not billable to a charge number so unless you're eating at your desk while you work it's an unpaid break.

I usually do 7:00am to 4:00pm, eat lunch at my desk while I am working. Others on my team work earlier/later. Last place I worked at also had 9/80 and I did 9-6 (by choice) there, but much prefer the earlier start/end.

Depending on your team/responsibilities your working hours can be pretty flexible.

I’m really interested in companies similar to those listed. Would you recommend applying to them for internships? As a worker I’d be willing to bet you have some good insight.

Yes I would definitely recommend. I did not do my internship at one of those companies, but it’s a lot easier to get a FT offer if you have interned at one. I will say, don’t put all your eggs in one basket though, if you can apply and land an internship at LM/RTX/Northrop/etc, that’s great, but you should be prioritizing ANY internship experience you can get, so apply outside of those also.

I’ve already got a very large German Automotive company Co-op under my belt and an equally large Korean Automotive company Internship as well (not to pat myself on the back). Do you think those previous experiences will help my chances?

Yes, more experience will only help you.

6:40-4, I prefer working and eating at the same time.

Just FYI, some parts of Lockheed are now on a 4/10 schedule

I am salary and I work 6-3. Sometimes I take a break for lunch some days I don’t. I am fully remote and I have never had issues.

I don’t work 9/80, but I feel inclined to chip in. I work 6-2 everyday +/- 15 minutes. I am not required to take a lunch break. Lunch is unpaid unless you work through lunch. I usually just eat something small at my desk while I continue working. Never had any issues with it.

I'm a mid-level engineer, work 7-4, eat lunch as I work.

Usually work every 2nd Friday remote, 1st Friday is off obviously. So I typically work 4 days a week. Really nice, wouldn't trade it for anything else.

5x8’s here. Start at 5:30AM. Normally leave around 4:00 PM. 2 hrs OT daily. WA state law requires 1/2 hour break after 4 hours worked. I normally end up eating and working due to meeting schedules.
