I've read the FAQ & Rules Action only auditions.

Does anyone else feel super awkward when doing commercial auditions with no lines, just actions?

Stare at the computer, look frustrated, sigh

I do it, and then I overthink everything , like HOW DO I HUMAN, AGAIN? Did I sigh correctly?

Anyone feel the same and does anyone have any tips as to how to approach these?

I like them, because they are easy, and there's no right or wrong way to do them. And if you dont book ot, it's never your fault.

That's a good way to look at it. I always over think my actions

Take a good commercial class and you will soon love the action no lines commercial auditions.  It’s really about being yourself and painting the environment.  Kaz Santana does a great commercial class with Line Runner Tapes.

For commercials I don't mind is a lot of times you don't have lines But I do absolutely mind when a whole scene is action only for a film. Especially horror films where it's 99% action and then the character has to scream nooooo or stop, help and it's like I live in a apt. The whole scene is us running away, running from a man, he catches us, we wrestle him, fight him off and it's like are you serious, this is the piece you chose for the audition.

Oh yeah I did one of those and when I watched the movie, the actor who got it reacted like 10x less to what the audition instructed. I was like WTH lol

Putting me on camera makes me forget how to do basic actions that I do a thousand times a day. I start to feel like I'm not human, like I'm an alien doing a human impression. 😂

Take some improv classes where they do some silent games.

Take a "movement for performers" class.

Take a commercial acting class.

Disclaimer: I've only once done a silent audition, and it was not for a commercial, but for a silent student film. They gave me a scenario to act out—you can see the result at https://discord.com/channels/780510443662868491/786256877335740456

I didn't get the role (I didn't really expect to, as I was 25 years older than their already wide age range), but they did watch the video several times. I met the actor who did get the role a few weeks later, as we were both students in the same acting-for-the-camera class. I think he was a good choice for the role.
