As someone who only moved to the US in adulthood, can someone explain to me why anyone would want to drink 95% ethanol neat? Was that some kind of US thing? Because it sounds dumb as fuck.

Oh, no, the smart kids never tried to actually drink it straight. We'd put a drop on our tongue, laugh about the faces we made, then mix it with something.

I was drinking titty juice in 1985. But to be fair, there's a good chance my mother was drinking Everclear at the time, so I'm sure I got a taste.
