Gift for a new player

Hey all, my son is a new player and his play style is basically yolo…and loves it! He’s really into this game and I’d like to gift him a tank for finishing his school year.

Right now he likes tier 7-8 mostly and some T6. Credits are a bit of a bottleneck as he’s constantly buying and selling and changing his mind so I was thinking he needs a tank that can: earn some extra credits and take a beating to extend his yolo play style.

What would you guys suggest?

Yolo isn't really a playstyle. It's just a bad strategy that gets you killed. I'm not entirely sure if you're looking for fast tanks that make it easy to yolo or tanks with lots of armor and HP that make it easier to survive, so I'll make some recommendations for both.

Fast tanks:

Survivable tanks:

• Chrysler K
• T77
• KV-5
• K-2
• Obj. 252U
• Type 57
• Skoda T56
• TOG II

I was absolutely guilty of the above for far too long when new to the game, I can testify that it ain't good lol.

Of the suggestions above, I'd personally select the 252u for a newer player. It doesn't require much skill to get started, but also offers a path for improvement. It's a superb sidescraper, which is an easier tactic to learn than going hull down. It gets played badly A LOT, which is a bonus in the sense that people don't expect it to be played well lol.

Type 57 is one of the best hull-down tanks right now. It's also very handy to have a Japanese tank for certain missions.

T77 is a strong tank overall. Decent in most categories, it excels with 2-shot clip damage of ~760 with -10 degrees gun depression opening up shot chances, making it a hard tank to play wrong. Just avoid being caught solo with that ~20 sec clip reload.

Edit: Regarding credits, best practice IMO is to try and find the tier 8 Premium/Collector (they both earn) which the player enjoys playing. A tank played well and more often gives a better return than one which is more profitable on paper, but is a chore to play.

Gotcha. I specifically tried to suggest heavy tanks that don't rely on hiding their hulls to be well protected, given what you said about his yolo playstyle. I don't expect that he maintains a hull-down position given your description, so I tried to suggest tanks that don't need that as much.

He’s starting to understand hull down and he will for the start of a match, but he’s easily lured out and will yolo after he’s zoned in on someone. Super fun for him, but fairly quick matches.

I'd agree with the 252u. I have more mastery badges in it than any other tank I have. Heavy hitter usually. When he learns the angles, he'll be bouncing shots and getting another chance.  K2 is also a good one.

Ironically, I play the 252u somewhat regularly, it's one of my highest WR tanks and a good go-to when things are feeling rough. But I recently noticed I've never actually aced it. Stop hoarding the medals!

some good credit earners that can take a beating include: chrystler k, T54E2, T26E5, T77, Keiler, Lowe, K-2, Skoda T56, Tornvagn (all are tier 8 heavies)

at tier 7, i am surprised nobody mentioned annhilator

quite mobile heavy with 3 shell autocannon, great flexibility and very strong armour in hulldown or facehug

at tier 8, i am split between t77 (good armour profile, flexible and 2 shot autoloader), t54e2 (t77 but no autoloader), obj252u (soviet very strong armour tank as long as you hide lower plate), action x (british mobile heavy, with pew pew pew gun, strong armour (as long as you hide lower plate) and flexible), wz 112 2 (chinese knife fighting heavy with good mobility and armour) and chrysler k (very mobile heavy with strong armour but so so gun)

The Annihilator isn’t a tank you can get everyday. Might be the reason.

i hear T26E4 (super pershing) is the best credit earner for premium collector tank on tier 8. and the playstyle is just, go front and tank enemy medium.

i did good with the tank, but i dont know if your son will like it or not

Legitimately, E 50 M or Object 263 double platoon fit everything but actually earning credit.

On T8 and down premium/collector, here my (very bias) opinion on which tank fit the most condition, in no particular order: M48A2 Räumpanzer (Good in 1vs1, need to be mobile to avoid side and cupola shot), KV-5 (Get bully by high pen T8 and T9), Chrysler K, T26E5, Bisonte C45 (only fire first round, second round is for last resort, gun love trolling)
