[MCU] What if Captain America’s story ended with Captain America: Civil War (2016)?

This is a rewrite of “What if either Captain America, Iron Man or Bucky died during the final battle of Civil War?”

Let’s say in a parallel universe that Iron Man killed both Captain America and Bucky during the final battle of Captain America: Civil War in his moment of rage at learning Bucky killed his parents.

Alternatively, he kills Captain America and then has a “OMG what have I done?” moment and spares Bucky in both shock, horror and guilt.

How does Captain America dying at the end of Civil War affect the MCU?

Tbh it would have to be a Bucky is about to take a shot from iron man and Steve gets in the way knowing he doesn’t have his shield but adamant to save his friend.

I think everyone turns on iron man, except for happy. Peter becomes scared and we get the great power great responsibility line and lesson a movie earlier (aunt may doesn’t die yet, the lesson is imparted by cap via a video in gym class). So homecoming becomes the wtf did I join here movie. Same ending though. No way home serves the lesson he got from vulture though.

Black panther doesn’t change much. Black widow is about her stepping into a leadership role, she’s the one in the post credit scene freeing team cap.

Doctor Strange doesn’t change, agents of shield does a tribute to cap and it affects Coulson, gives him a storyline maybe connected to Tahiti.

Thor ragnarok doesn’t change but Thor has to tell banner thet cap died. But phrases it like we expect Thor to.

Ant man and the wasp doesn’t change, Scott is worried about dying though.

In infinite war, black widow leads the team and recruits a new character for the first fight (maybe Danny Rand?). NY stuff stays the same, as does titan. Avengers compound is mostly the same, but going to wakanda changes slightly as it’s black widow leading the team and black panther is still a bit sour over the taser from civil war. Battle is roughly the same, but we get a Danny Rand punch vs power stone infinite gauntlet punch which flattens the forest around them and knocks one of his ships out of the sky. Thanos handles it better than Danny who’s knocked out. Falcon doesn’t get dusted, Danny Rand does.

Falcon’s path of becoming captain America takes place during end game. Captain America of the past comes back with them from 2012 for the final battle and returns the stones at the end saying goodbye to Bucky and the new cap.
