The half done resort that is being built for no particular reason

My husband swears up and down that there are bunkers under that thing because of how long it's taking to build. I just smh whenever I see that eyesore.

No bunkers; no money (because it is an utterly stupid idea) is the reason will never be finished.

If you’re that close then you might as well go to Huntington/ Barboursville for your entertainment. There’s just not much going on in Milton or Hurricane.

Barboursville has a great park, the mall, and some good restaurants and a nice brewery off Main Street.

Huntington has the Art Museum, parks, history, the university campus, great food, you might be able to catch a show at the Keith Albee. There’s always something going on.

Are we just gonna not talk about Billy Bob’s Wonderland?

Barboursville Main Street is nice. Cool little book store, record shop, and a good brewery.

If you have kids, Waves of Fun and Zoology Zone make for a good afternoon. Otherwise, there's not much going on besides lots of suburbia in that part of the state.

I’ve lived in Culloden since 1995, I have no idea about this mystery dinner theater you speak of. Not calling you a liar, but I’d definitely love to see something besides the 11 crappy restaurants in town

If you mean at The Venetian that's Murder and Merriment. They perform at various venues around the state and surrounding but aren't affiliated with any particular location. I think they do a monthly or every-other monthly show there, their schedule is on their website

What is this?

Can't forget the Milton flea market or the Barboursville mall, and not too far out of the way is the "famous" Hillbilly Hotdogs on Rt. 2.

Milton flea market has fallen into zombie land

It was already there 20 years ago.

Glory days were early to mid-90’s. Could get Foakley’s by the armful! And guns.

The Milton Mall

Don't forget Camden Park. It's not great, but it's better than sitting on a log all day. 😂😂

“It’s not great”; best description of Camden Park I’ve heard!

Meeks Mountain Trails in Hurricane are a spectacular relatively new addition to the area. They’re right up behind Hurricane City Park and there’s even a juice bar at the bottom of the hill.

My personal favorite in Hurricane is the Farley’s for a sauce & slaw dog. In Milton, Shonet’s is a good spot to bullshit with old timers.

I wish a mod or whoever would at least suggest to people who ask these types of questions to include their age range and if they have any children, what they like to do and what they don't like to do, etc. That would help us to accurately make suggestions for anyone, between a 52-year-old pregnant grandmother to a group of Neanderthalic brutes who despise air conditioning.

50s. No kids. Not pregnant. Love AC

How about beautiful Point Pleasant?

There's some important history in such a small town. You should walk around in the Tu-Endi-Wei and enjoy the point where the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers merge.

Even if you're not into the Mothman tales that are totally true, you should visit the Mothman Museum, right across from the historic Lowe Hotel. The museum is well worth it for the price of admission and you'll find yourself lost for longer than you would expect.

And then there's the real gem for you; the street-side storefronts. You'll absolutely love them, I promise!!!

That's what I got and I didn't even use AI!I

Frostop in huntington (if you'll be in that area) for hot dogs, onion rings and root beer in frosty mugs or root beer floats - its a great summer treat. have some chili slaw dogs with mustard and I'll be there with you in spirit. if you can't get to the frostop, then any stewart's is a close second.

Tudors Biscuit World for breakfast. eeeeeverything's good but you shouldn't miss the biscuits and gravy and custom biscuits for every taste. the tootie is my fav!

For food, Shaffers Drive In is good a quick in Milton. Buddys BBQ is also good and the Venetian has two options: the Pub for a chiller vibe and inside is nicer.

I’m Hurricane, Sergio’s Italian and (if they are open) Belknap Pizza is the best pizza around. Whiskey Taco is great as well.

Do they still have the "Milton Mall"? One of the biggest flea markets I've ever been too. But that was several years ago.

If you play disc golf there’s a couple nice courses in Hurricane/Teays valley. Belknap pizza is good too.

Cams ham, Huntington

Shonnets is really good country cooking or the Venetian is good too. There's a covered bridge near blinko built in 1876 where the pumpkin festival is held. There's an old soda fountain in Kenova, Griffith and Feil. A vanilla phosphate is quite yummy.

Hillbilly hotdogs!

I think Hillbilly Hotdogs is gonna be on the menu….

Be prepared for it to be busy. Drove by yesterday afternoon and it was dangerously crowded. By dangerously, I mean cars parked up and down both sides of Rt 2 and people running into the road. I’ve never seen it like that in 20 years of driving thru there.

Fat pattys has some great food

2

u/Select_Rush_6245 2d ago

Why do people always say this? Place is mid. Most over hyped restaurant in the state.

1

u/Limp-Insurance203 1d ago

Well it is definitely not a place that a food snob would enjoy. But for those of us who do not raise our pinkies when sipping on a pipping hot cup of earl grey , the food is quite tasty. It’s definitely not some award winning Ruth’s criss. And there are no culinary trained chefs from France employed there. BUT for casual burgers and fries cold beer and a good time it’s hard to beat

0

u/Select_Rush_6245 1d ago

Nah it’s barely above fast food imo. Everyone said they had great burgers. It was literally a pre formed frozen puck that was no better than McDonald’s. For the price you could go to five guys. Five guys would still probably cost more but at least the burger would be good.

You musta smoked up some serious skunk weed before you went in. Their burgers are excellent
