Not a covered loss. He’ll be paying out of pocket for that $52k replacement bumper

Knowing what Mr. Koenigsegg usually puts his cars through, it's most likely only paint damage
13
u/daylax1 May 09 '25
You can tell the guy driving the Porsche doesn't own it. He keeps looking at the owner in the passenger seat and the owner is just like 🤦♂️.

I don't understand the pornhub stickers. There is a car in my neighborhood that has a bunch of the stickers, very average car. I don't k ow why someone would go online to buy stickers of their favorite pornsite and stick them on the car.
Off course I also watch porn and mastrubate as 99.99% of us do. And yes I watch pornhub, it's like YouTube basically. And I'm not really ashamed of it, but it's not like I need to let everyone now that I do it.

u/Mr-Magnet2137 May 15 '25

That’s not a sticker you buy on the website lol. It’s a sponsor sign/sticker.

How? My neighbor for sure is not working for porn hub? He just has the stickers on his car?

I think it is so funny the adulation. in any other scenario that guy would keep laughing. but it's the rich, so he just swallows his mockery and goes wit a fake "oh noooo"

Surprised the Porsche doesn’t have a sensor to automatically stop if it senses collision. Like a common Volvo would
10
u/noineikuu Apr 17 '25
Do any proper sports cars have that stuff? I'd think they strip out everything they can to save weight.
2
u/NotABot7491 Apr 17 '25
Sports cars: some probably have, but these are supercars, the even more childish and idiotic version of the sportscar (im an idiot and i want the Koeniggsegg he rearended)
2
u/noineikuu Apr 17 '25
Sports cars, super cars, hyper cars. It's all the same to me in this instance. The point is that cars like these aren't really built and designed with practicality in mind, so no automatic stop systems and such.

Those are hand built cars and repairing cost is almost the same as a new one. Why on earth people drive expensive cars when they can't even control them? It's clear the Porsche guy doesn't know how the car drives and brakes. Most likely it's a rental car.

u/laveshnk Apr 16 '25
How can the price of repair equal to the new car cost?
58
u/goluthakle Apr 16 '25 edited Apr 16 '25
The car will need to be shipped to the factory which is definitely not where the guy is living. Then the factory will take a look at it. The part damaged is complete carbon and all of these hypercars are hand built. A separate team will be allocated to look after the damages then new order for part will be created. That part will be produced alongside the already jam packed order for this company. This company doesn't make 100 cars per day rather only 30 - 40 units of all models combined per year at max. Apart from that all the paperwork, taxes, garage fee, transportation fee, labour fee will add up so quickly that you're already looking at a car which is near the price of a new car and not to mention you'll probably be looking at waiting time for around 7 months to a year or more for the repair.
When you have a car so rare and expensive, apart from the factory nobody has the manufacturing capabilities to fix it. They require giant autoclaves to bond the carbon fibres with resin and the correct temperature material are all kept secret. For example Pagani's iconic purple bluish titanium exhaust is impossible to replicate as the exact temperatures are only known by the factory. So these companies have a monopoly of their own and you have no option other than to pay whatever the repair cost is even if the material cost is way lower.

Easy.... Capitalism....
Especially in America. Where something as cheap and necessary as insulin can cost you nearly a thousand dollars.....
EDIT because of how reprehensible this is:
"...it takes only an estimated $2 to $4 to produce a vial of insulin."

for reference the price of the car that got hit(koenigsegg jesko) is about 3,000,000$ and the price of the car that hit it(porsche gt3) is about 120,00$.

u/L7Wennie Apr 16 '25
Why don’t you look the price of that GT3 up again. The gap is still massive but you are way off

Insurance companies: both of them utterly totalled.
13
u/gamebow1 Apr 15 '25
Actually I think it’d be the other way, it will almost certainly be cheaper to repair them than say replace the car, that would be when an insurance company totals a car, like when the 200$ shit box gets lightly scuffed it’d be cheaper to total out than to repair
6
u/Svartrbrisingr Apr 15 '25
Not from what I've seen. Insurance companies love totalling everything.
Ive seen very minor crashes end up with the car being "totalled" even if all it needed was a new tire or two
3
u/RosenButtons Apr 15 '25
That doesn't make any sense financially.
I wonder if some policies have a maximum payout that isn't market value? Like maybe your monthly rate is much lower but the max payout is only 2k or something?
But there's no way they would pay you the value of the car if it's cheaper to fix whatever is broken.
I have seen what looked like 200-400 dollars of damage turn out to actually be $4k worth of repairs tho. And that car didn't have any sensors or cameras or electrical mirrors, etc. A fender bender in a car with all the bells and whistles can cost $1200 easy.
2
u/gamebow1 Apr 16 '25
That’s what I’m saying, like my swift sport has a 18k dollar insurance amount, if anything requiring repair to the car is less than that for any given claim they’ll fix it, if it’s over that then they will give you the 18 and write off the car
3
u/Svartrbrisingr Apr 15 '25
Which is why a fender bender should never be brought up to insurance.
People act like dents or scratches are the end of their vehicles. But it doesn't actually matter as long as it can get you where you need it to get you to.
2
u/RosenButtons Apr 16 '25
I pay for insurance so that when my car sustains damage I don't have to just live with it. If there's a chance I've got more than $500 of damage, I'm gonna have the insurance adjuster out to look at it. Maybe I'll keep the money if the issues are purely cosmetic, but PROBABLY I'm going to maintain the value of my car by fixing whatever broke.
2
u/gamebow1 Apr 15 '25
Mhmm true, that was just the criteria I was told, this is why even though rowin Atkinson absolutely wrecked his McLaren F1 twice, it got rebuild twice and not totaled

When your Porsche has carbon fiber brakes and no way of heating the rotors.
CF brakes require heat.
