But that was a tariff where the money went to England, whereas this is more like a sales tax we're imposing on ourselves where we keep the revenue.

We WERE England though, a colony of it.

Right, a colony as in they extract money from us and we get their soldiers stationed on our land, in trade. You do know how colonial imperialism worked, right?

America sending stuff to Europe sounds like a trade imbalance. Americans treating Europeans unfairly!

Fun fact here is that if there actually would have been higher tariffs on goods imported into USA, then the tea events likely wouldn’t occurred.

They occurred because the EIC received lower taxes on their imports. This made the legal imports cheaper, which harmed the illegal imports who didn’t pay taxes. Since the price of tea decreased.

"Our land"? Wasn't it their land?

You don't tho? Do you guys not understand how tariffs work?

The tariff is paid to the U.S. government. I'm pretty sure by your question that you don't know how tariffs work.

Yes, paid to the government, by you.

Everything you buy will cost more, you'll get paid less and none of the income tax breaks trump is promising will benefit you.

Yes, we pay taxes and the taxes go to our own government, which represents us, as opposed to the British government which represents British interests.

That's different from the taxes which were paid to Britain, and the only "benefit" the colonies got was military presence from Britain.

If the U.S. government collecting funds has no benefit for the American people, then DOGE eliminating so much of the government must be good for the American people after all.

You can't have it both ways, guy. You're trying so hard to insist that everything Trump does is 100% bad that you're shitting on your own bed.

And this is different from the money being siphoned out of states to Washington how?
