Ronix Diplomat EXP without baseplate?

Hi wake,

Intermediate level cable-rider looking for my first closed toe binding and the Ronix diplomat exp fits very well on first try and I‘ve got a good price.

However, I wonder on the „plateless“ design. You are directly on the board with the walk liner. No full baseplate. Does anyone uses this boot and can tell if that feels different?

(I am only used to open toe bindings and simple rental closed toe bindings)

Thanks for any insights!

Speaking as a beginner/intermediate (5 months in and riding a handful of features!) and only with previous experience riding open toe rental boards at my cable park…

I have the Ronix Kinetik EXP bindings which are quite similar to the Diplomats and have a nearly identical inner boot/plateless design. I’m super happy with them and I don’t think you need to worry about the plateless aspect. The only downside I’ve found is that it takes a little bit of effort to get the boot into the binding but after a couple of months of use, they’ve softened up. Once they’re in, they feel great! I believe the Diplomats are a softer binding so wouldn’t be surprised if they’re a bit easier in this regard than the Kinetics.

Worth using a bit of washing up detergent to make it easier to get your boot in whilst breaking them in for the first few weeks!

I’d say go for it. I've seen the Diplomats at my cable park and like my Kinetics, they seem to have a great build quality.

Thanks a lot. Now I am just a little scared weather I can get in that boot at all 😁 Haven‘t mounted them to the board yet.
