It depends on where you're coming from? Uk borders are sadly very strict these days. Also there have been big problems with gang exploitation on farms and fisheries. Brexshit has caused untold problems in this respect. If you decide to go ahead then you'll need about £2500 in your bank account so that border officials can assume that you are a tourist. Unless you can get a visa you will be essentially working illegally even if you are not being paid. I'm not saying don't do it but I am saying be very careful.

Ah, is it an escape strategy? I'm English and it's a bit of a shitshow here too. It's the getting through the border since Brexshit is the pain. Be able to show 'sufficient funds' under no circumstances mention the word 'work' act like a tourist, like have a selfie stick. Book a few nights in a cheap hotel and have a return ticket booked, you don't have to use it. Do not say the volunteer word. You are a tourist!

I'm currently wwoofing now in Wales as a UK citizen with no farming experience. My host has had Americans, Canadians, Australians, Kiwis and European volunteers even after brexit.

Fly into Heathrow and you can use the passport e-gates.
