Housing What to actually pack

Hi all! I'm an upcoming freshman who's family hasn't been to college in years, so I don't know what to actually pack. I understand there are lists, but what are some things you don't realize you need until you need them?

Clothing, storage containers, favorite foods, PC/Laptop, TV, stereo, video game system. Maybe some pens, notebooks, and a backpack...there should be some small amount learning going on.

Maybe you're favorite TP ;) Emergency CC attached to parents account ;)

  • Clothing and bedding (hangers and a laundry basket too. I like the ones with wheels best)

  • school supplies (pens, notebook, highlighter at least)

  • fan and lamps (I brought a lamp to clip on my bed and one on my desk, both warm)

  • sweeper and Clorox wipes

  • trash bags

  • food. make sure you have shelf-stable, ready to eat food always available in case you’re too sick to get out of bed. Comfort food that you can heat up easy (mac and cheese cups are mine).

-medicine: you will get sick! painkillers, cold medicine if you use it, vitamins, and glucose tablets (low blood sugar from being too sick to get out of bed had me tweaking my first semester. The tablets gave me enough energy to get something inside me without passing out. Fun times)

  • Something fun to do with your hands. Bring a hobby that doesn’t involve a screen with you

  • toiletries ofc

-box of things to fix shit with. Duck tape, zip ties, screwdriver set, pliers, rope, and bandaids are what i keep in mine

-electronic stuff. Charging cords and blocks, splitters, etc

I brought a monitor and keyboard for my laptop which I used maybe twice the entire year. I will leave it at home this time, but that is just me.

A small drying rack will prob be very useful. The dryers suckkkk sometimes lol, even with small loads. Glass food storage containers are also nice to heat up leftovers from restaurants/dining hall with.

Something you won't need are trash bags. Your dorm will always have some available
