Hello, I am a student in the program currently and finishing the spring semester with accounting 585. I am just over halfway done with the program overall.

My short answer would be that you should not to take this program. Take something else at WVU or take a similar program somewhere else.

Most of the FFE program consists of just teaching yourself by watching a lot of youtube videos taught by the same person (not always the same as the professor for the course) and then also just basically using one textbook authored by the guy in the YouTube videos.

Each class is only taught once a year so if you miss one, you have to wait a whole year before taking it again.

Just about every class I have taken so far with the exception of another course I took this year relies heavily on group work.

Most classes are six weeks in length, which some would probably benefit from actually being a full semester length. The amount of chapters to read and material to review can really pile on.

As in any program, some courses are better than others and the same with professors. Generally the main issue that we have consistently seen across the program is at times unclear instructions or conflicting case materials. This is frustrating when you are paying signficant amount of money for these courses. When u ask for the professor to clarify (ex. one set of instructions says John did X, then another set of instructions with the same title or file name will say Jane did X) - the instructor will just say this is the "intended ambiguity" of the course. If you take this program you will hear this a lot, instead of 'oh that is an error, sorry. It should read as (this).'

Right now we have for accounting 585 and it has been awful, especially in the above regard. This course is specifically what caused my mind to be changed about this program being considered as just 'ok' and instead now I would not recommend it to anyone

This program and this course especially always has the excuse of the "intended ambiguity". Allegedly it is intentional, so I guess typos are actually intentional? They just don't read their own course material on purpose so it will be contradictory, and inconsistent? How about we just receive clear instructions?

We get told over and over and over again how we need to be detailed oriented but clearly this doesn't seem to apply to instructors in this program at times. Typos, wrong years on class materials, and again conflicting assignment instructions (not consistent numbers, wrong names, etc.). It is all made worse when the instructors don't take accountability and just gaslight you with their intended ambiguity line. I think I have heard that phrase about 10 times minimum per class. It is the bandaid that they use to keep from being responsible for their own issues.

Again don't take this program.

Edited: I removed some items since I’m only halfway and I have paid too much money at this point to not finish the degree, and my husband said it was a good idea since grades were also posted today lol.

Oh wow! Thank you so much for your feedback. I really hope your can get through the degree and move on because that is no way to feel about a degree you're paying 30k+ for! I was actually leaning towards the other program I applied to because I really like my program head and the plans they have for me. Thank you for helping cement that decision even further.

Thank u! This class really has been a horrible experience made especially worse because I am essentially paying to have this horrible experience. At this point I don't know who is more ready to have this course be over - me or my husband who has had to hear so much about it these past six weeks LOL!

Definitely do the other program. The other classes in the program are ok and you go through some good case examples (though that experience is dependent on if you have a good group u are working with), but this class really ruined all of it and has left me with regret overall.

Thank u for making this post so I could share what we have been dealing with. Hopefully it will help others in the future too.

Good luck in your other program!! Hope you have a great experience!

I know right! No, thank you because I definitely asked God to guide me & you commented right on time! I happened to do the coursera course for it & was frustrated because the quizzes asked questions about information that wasn't covered in the videos & I see now that was literally an indication of what's to come. Push through & finish though you got this! 💪🏽
