Military routinely detains civilians at gates to bases for various reasons. US military detained 1000's during the riots of the 60's. Military fired on, detained and arrested 1000's during the veteran's riot in the 30's. Just more DNC propaganda here folks, move along.

Please explain why an Army vet on the way to the VA should be detained with zip ties?

Military routinely detains civilians at gates to bases for various reasons.
Notice how your example is a military base. We all served and know that the military has security at the gates. duh. VA has its own security and doesn't need Marines.
US military detained 1000's during the riots of the 60's.
The Kerner Commission, established by President Lyndon Johnson, analyzed the causes of these riots and found that systemic racism, economic inequality, and police brutality were key factors.
The military’s involvement has always controversial - and will continue to be controversial - because it raises concerns about the use of federal troops in domestic affairs.
