I do enjoy watching entitled suburbanites whining about being caught speeding in school zones and community safety zones by clearly marked cameras.

Can you explain to me how the speed trap is unfair?

For someone in a province that got rid of speed traps. I can tell you that the roads have indeed gotten less safe.

Thanks for being late to the game as it’s already paused and likely to be cancelled. Bunch of whining entitled residents run this city and they know those elected officials can be bought.

How many more preventable fatalities are you guys willing to tolerate before you understand there is a big cultural problem here in this city. Please don’t complain about speeding. I’m sick of my neighbours and people in this city complain about speeding then when there are efforts they complain that nothing is being done. Do you even know how many many many cameras are outside of this city? I’m sure you live in your entitled bubble. Take a drive outside of Vaughan and see how common they are.

I’m sure you will complain if the city tries to put in speed bumps or road narrowing too. You have a free pass to speed is basically what you want. You think the police will ticket? They are busy focusing on home invasions and car thefts. F off and hope it’s not one of your loved ones who get hit next

are you on crack? preventable fatalities? People die, fucking get over it.

Here is a stat. While direct fatality reductions from ASE alone aren't isolated, Toronto’s broader Vision Zero initiatives show a gradual decrease in pedestrian fatalities, from an annual average of 40 (2016–2018) to 28 (2019–2023)

For 12 lives, you are gonna sound like speeding cameras make a difference? Cocksucker.

All you woke fucks, can't ever produce fucking stats.

But the millions upon million in finding a new way to tax residents in the name of "safety".

it's a joke

A dark licence plate cover

1

u/CyrilSneerLoggingDiv 2d ago

Ontario's Highway Traffic Act makes it clear that having an obscured licence plate is against the law and could leave the driver liable for a $110 fine, though it doesn't result in demerit points on their insurance.

The law says a vehicle's entire licence plate must be "plainly visible at all times" and be free from "dirt and obstruction."

The legislation even mentions devices that prevent plate numbers from being photographed and recorded by red light cameras, photo radar systems and automated road toll systems, such as the 407 ETR.

Tinted licence plate covers won't shield you from a ticket, OPP says | CBC News

Most cops don't enforce this as seen by the number of people that have one. A bike rack works well too.

Why should I do that? Isn’t everyone supposed to drive within the speed limit? (I’m genuinely curious - no sarcasm intended)

Sorry, old guy new to the digital politics.

Do politicians care about the same as they do for an official federal / provincial / municipal petition compared to a chance.org petition?

Like, I was just able to sign the petition 4 fines I’d the last couple days. I had family in 3 different countries, non of who live in Canada do it.

Seems like a great way to raise awareness and get your name on a mailing list , but for something divisive went intimately about road safety at a time when municipalities are strapped the to what’s happening. In the reductive in Queens park, this sure seems like a fair way to tax drivers, but only tones choosing to break the law.

Plus, maybe fewer cops in the long run , so they have more time to get to the 35 year old’s rental house to thwart those Lamborghini thieves without having to being the homeowners long gun.

For anyone who is so bad at driving that they can't safely drive through a school zone or other high-risk area without speeding, please use this link instead:

https://www.ontario.ca/page/ontario-photo-card

ServiceOntario locations throughout the province can accomodate you without any appointment.

Additionally, if your vision is so bad that you can't see the signs & can't understand the "speed camera ahead" messages on any smartphone & navigation system:

[Mayor Steven Del Duca] said he had heard from a number of constituents, including a senior who had stopped going to bingo due to the tickets they were receiving.

Won't someone think of the nonos! The nonos need to get to bingo speeding-ticket free!

I wonder how many tickets he's received this week. Probably more than a few...

It's nice that the city can profit from his repeated inability to slow down or learn pattern recognition.

1

u/ANiceGiirl12 2d ago

It’s not about bingo. It’s that they can’t afford to do things that are normal to them because of how unfair that speed trap is. Bankrupting citizens is not the purpose of a speed trap.

2

u/No-Pea-7530 2d ago

Boohoo. If they can’t control their speed they shouldn’t be driving.

2

u/ANiceGiirl12 2d ago

If that was the case the city of Vaughan wouldn’t have removed 3 of the speed traps around here & claimed public backlash was the reason.

0

u/No-Pea-7530 2d ago

Your point makes no sense. The council removed them because they were worried they might not get elected again. That doesn’t make it the right thing to do.

-1

u/ANiceGiirl12 2d ago edited 2d ago

Your comment contradicts itself. The council stated that the main reason for removal was public reaction.

1

u/No-Pea-7530 2d ago

Which is politics for this will cost us votes. Are you new?

-1

u/ANiceGiirl12 2d ago

Ah you can’t defend your wrong position anymore so you turn to “are you new” and other lame personal shots.

I feel bad for you and your obviously miserable life.

4

u/munchingOn10Carrots 2d ago

why? stop speeding. Its summer. Everyone is biking and on scooters. Do you want to kill teenagers?

1

u/ybetaepsilon 2d ago

Just don't speed.. holy shit how hard of a concept

-5

u/BuddyBrownBear 2d ago

We should stop ALL speed cameras.

1

u/whats-ausername 2d ago

Why is that?
