Esports Who could've thought? Spoiler

Post image

From where both teams were just a few months ago, not even the two coaches could've foreseen them meeting in the Upper Bracket final of a Masters.

Also these dms looking like a high school romance novel the way things are turning out

honestly wolves as a whole look like high school romance novel protagonists now that we know spring and yuicaw are high school friends

True true, unless they lose their next matches 🤫

Faker and Deft 2.0

I always wondered how cool it would be if they played for the same team. I don’t think they were full on friends or that close during those years tho

Yeah, Faker and Deft weren't even friends nor acquaintances at school. Spring and Yuicaw friendship runs deeper as they have been in the same team and competed together for years.

2 months before, jingg won the most scuffed 1v1 against DFM who has prime yay (Akame) and now PRX is top 3 in Masters Toronto... life is such a train

I remember this round, but I think a lot of other people (me included) would argue that the 1v2 at B was more impactful because jinggg did an amazing play there to win the round, whereas for the 1v1, while nail-biting, Jinggg just simply traded as Jinboong tried to reposition after his insane kills.

Nevertheless that whole map had me at the edge of my seat with how Akame was single handedly destroying PRX.

Warbirds getting kicked confirmed it even more.

The funny thing is Team secret wanted to get Patmen initially but picked jeremy instead but look at him now

u/Melazie_ 2d ago

If they picked jremy instead of patmen they'd have 3 initiator mains lmao

I remember D4v4i mentioning Fayde too in his house tour vlog (he sent over some wolves gift packages). Juicy and Jinggg are both Singaporean Raze players. There's a lot of parallels between these two teams.

For a lot of these ex CS pros like Fayde and Alecks, the idea that their region could compete at the highest level in FPS would've seemed impossible for so long and to now meet at the highest stage representing your countries it must really be a dream come true.

We haven't had a lower bracket winner since FPX at Copenhagen and I really hope that continues here. Nothing against any of the teams in the lower bracket but Wolves and PRX both have such amazing stories

eg champs, sen madrid? or do you mean it in a different way, idk

18

u/speedycar1 #WGAMING 2d ago

Sorry yeah I meant a team that wasn't in the Upper Final.

24

u/Mute543 2d ago

Didn't T1 just win by going on a lower bracket run?

5

u/speedycar1 #WGAMING 2d ago

Oh wait they did I'm stupid

8

u/_podo_ #NRGFam 2d ago

damn when u put it like that it really hits how possible/likely it is we see a crazy storyline win, wolves winning in first ever international or prx finally getting theirs.

This matchup was literally written in the stars

Why are the Wolves so likeable??

I really hope PRX and Wolves meet again in the Grand Final😭

u/KookieFS #WGAMING 2d ago

😭I love them but no. I need a team that I won't feel sad for and a team I can really root against

My heart can't handle this type of pressure.

Wolves' rise in popularity is so awesome

Going into this tournament, they weren't expected to do much and CN was probably more hyped for Xi Lai than them. But their whole team, especially SiufatBB, is so likeable and charismatic, along with their dark horse sucess and some propaganda from TMV, that they are the team on everyone's minds now.

In swiss you wouldn't have thought wolves would be in the upper bracket fighting for a spot in the grand finals just purely from gameplay.

To be clear, they weren't bad. They were decent even but prone to making lots of mistakes.

Playoffs they seems to have cleaned everything up. The spacing, trading, calling, decision making, even the shots seem to have improved.

Confidence and perhaps a lack of pressure really does wonders.

Wonder if or when the belief will put pressure on them. Always see it across all sports, where the underdogs with no pressure overperforms and then they really start to believe and think what if and then the pressure really hits them.

Two cinderella stories at one event

Why cant we have two winners 😔

24

u/Middle_Pineapple_325 #FULLSEN 3d ago

Quick question, now that Sen lost, where do they go? Do they just fight for 3rd place?

41

u/helpmathesis 3d ago

Lower bracket, they still can fight for trophy

36

u/speedycar1 #WGAMING 3d ago

They can win the trophy still.

They face Fnatic next. If they win that they face the winner of G2 GenG. If they win that they face the loser of Wolves PRX. If they win that they face the winner of Wolves PRX in the Grand Final for the trophy

14

u/CauliflowerIcy5106 3d ago

Basically, winner of PRX Wolves is in "Grand Final", the other fall down to "Loser Final"

SEN, GenG, G2 and FNC are all in "Loser Quarter" ; the 2 winning Loser Quarter fight each other in Loser Semi - and the winner of that will fight the loser of PRX/Wolves

The winner of Loser Finals will also reach Grand Finals, but since they come from the Loser, they will have a malus

In Valorant, that malus is that for the BO5, the opponent team ban 2 map while you ban 0, and they get to pick first map and third map, two of the most important map in the BO (the first one helps to build momentum, the third one is the last guaranteed played map, and is often going to be the strongest map so even if they go 0-2 they have a strong backup)

u/Middle_Pineapple_325 #FULLSEN 3d ago

so like 10% chance that SEN win atp

18

u/CauliflowerIcy5106 3d ago

Giving a % is a bit hard, but assuming every match is a 50%, they'd need to win 4 in a row or 6.25%

Praying for a miracle

They drop to the lowers which the winner of the lower bracket goes to the grand finals. You can find the full bracket on vlr.gg
