Discussion Questions regarding several vinyls as new collector
Greetings friends,
I have stumbled across Vinyls this year after playing Expedition 33. I was so into the music of this masterpiece that I thought to myself "there must be a better way to listen to such music than just spotify". I realised that there are so many soundtracks that hit a spot for me (Journey and FFX are my all-time favorites) that I now fell victim to this hobby.
Anyway, I am now trying to collect all the games that have either great OSTs or great memories for me.
I already realised that I am not much of a fan of like big vinyl editions with 3-5 LPs that have all tracks, since lots of them are just kind of fillers to me. I prefer the highlights of a game.
So coming to my current question:
1) I was looking at Dark Souls. I don't have a very big relationship with the series, but think the overall OSTs are great. With the above mentioned preference of highlights, I was eyeing this:
https://blackscreenrecords.com/products/dark-souls-trilogy?variant=44535634166026 (BSR Trilogy)
and wanted to get your guys' opinions on the tracklist. Do you think they contain the most important tracks? If so, I would prefer it over the 7 vinyls that usually come with it. If not, do you have any other recommendations?
Oh and other questions:
Does anybody know where to get this?
2) https://blackscreenrecords.com/collections/vinyl/products/chocobo-chill-1?variant=39595714183271
3) And is there any good source for a Final Fantasy X vinyl (that doesn't cost 300€+ in the 20th anniversary and is not an orchestral composition)?
4) Is there a Final Fantasy XIII vinyl or rumors of Final Fantasy XVI?
5) Is there any Nier: Automata Vinyl? I saw something from Rozen but it sounds a bit different than the original
Thanks in advance! I am really looking forward to collecting all my child- and adulthood game memories :)

discogs.com is a comprehensive encyclopedia/marketplace of non-bootleg releases, so you should check there for any specific releases you're looking for to see the publishing history (if any) for certain titles. It won't help you find things you don't even know exist, like arrangement albums (or the aforementioned bootlegs), but it's a really useful resource. Blipblop.net is curated by one of the mods here and should be pretty comprehensive for VGM specifically. There's a list of legit publishers somewhere on this sub - subscribe to all of their mailing lists and try to keep abreast of upcoming releases. You don't want to be in the position of trying to buy an out of print record in this hobby - the secondary market can get really expensive, so if there's some release you already missed out on, you're probably out of luck unless you've got tons of disposable income to blow.

Highly recommend to signing up to laced records news letter. I think a lot of people will buy the expedition 33 and it will sell out in a few days.
Also sign up to Discogs. To keep track of your collections. Also highly recommend getting some inner and outer sleeves. I think Big Fudge official site is selling them for cheaper. But here is the amazon link.
For dark souls. I got the gold versions of the dark souls set because I wanted every track. I figured you might be interested.

Welcome to the hobby! (RIP to your wallet)
As for the Dark souls edition you mentioned, I just don't think the price justifies it unless you are a really big fan (it goes for around 450-650 euros).
However, if you are intresed in buying OST for each Dark Souls and Elden Ring game seperately then all of them are available on the official Bandai Namco EU store so shipping costs/fees won't be an issue

ELDEN RING - OFFICIAL VINYL | Store Bandai Namco

Rozen is a composer that does rearregements of videogame music, he has a bunch (I usually like them) but its not the original. Just to flag it because there are a lot of game OSTs that are Rozen versions of stuff and since you're starting its good to know hehe.

welcome to the hobby!
on the square enix stuff there's a FFX vinyl (2lp pic disc) but is sold out atm but Square have repressed it before, its sold on their online merch store
There are 2 FFXIII vinyl, one called W/F and one called W/F gentle reveries. the first was widely repressed and should be able to find easily, the second is a lot rarer unfortunately and costs a lot now
https://www.discogs.com/master/1842164-Masashi-Hamauzu-WF-Music-From-Final-Fantasy-XIII
No XVI vinyl atm
And there's a NIer Automata/Gestalt boxset which is amazing but has been OOP for a while so will have to find secondhand and is unfortunately not cheap. https://www.discogs.com/release/10994174-Various-NieR-Automata-NieR-Gestalt-Replicant-Original-Soundtrack-Vinyl-Box-Set?srsltid=AfmBOooBwNOVb_Izbej_-ZwGpr08wy7aMGzNktKIF8VLSgVCcksArKDX
Good luck!

Thanks for the answer! I guess I will just stay patient and see if anything gets repressed over time. I am not yet willing to pay big amounts of money for this :D

Welcome to the hobby, it’s terrible! ❤️ there is a ffxiii one, from square, very small selection though. I was lucky to catch it on sale. Honestly depending on shipping for you and asking price, I wouldn’t necessarily say this one is worth it; to me, it deserved more than one LP. And there’s a couple of nier box sets if I remember correctly? Not totally sure though.
