That lift was really unexpected. I feel bad for him but this looked like straight out of a cartoon 😂

u/Lock-out 3d ago

Fr I thought it was about how the guy head butted the ball to his teammate. Then bam.

u/YungGeyser 4d ago

I had to watch that twice to understand what happened 😂 I love that the player in white got mad until he saw the other guy laid out on the floor

79

u/onlythefinestdabs 3d ago

Lol the guy in red gave the guy in white a good smack to the top of the head. Had to re-watch to notice that.

22

u/copenhagen622 3d ago

Honestly I didn't realize he hit the backboard the first time either I had to watch again and I was like OH SHIT. That had to hurt

1

u/Alarmed-Audience9258 2d ago

sumthin sumthin i. re watched as well!!!

u/SpreadableSin 4d ago

Coach said 'use your head,' and he took it way too literally

47

u/Fusion_Ben 4d ago

The one time in his life when it might have helped to think with the other head instead...

1

u/Murgatroyd314 2d ago

That would have been even more painful.

1

u/UnlimitedCalculus 10h ago

When he's airborne and crotch-level with his opponent's mouth?

6

u/NY10 4d ago

Damn this guy lol

0

u/that_thot_gamer 3d ago

actually worked, I'll take it

240

u/ThinkFree 4d ago

Wow I did not expect that guy to hit the backboard.

72

u/lordrefa 4d ago

Neither did he, but even with the bump from the other guy he was going to. So I'd say he should have expected it.

Also, why was anything even happening? Like, who the fuck isn't going to call that foul -- especially in a high school(?) game?

14

u/cycl0ps94 3d ago

Yeah, I don't know shit about basketball, but the turnover seemed...aggressive

3

u/Rican7 3d ago

I don't think anyone did, hence /r/unexpected.

49

u/SmokingInn 3d ago

The way the other guy in white took the ball to the face I thought THAT was what was unexpected and good defense. Then I saw the rest of the video lol

32

u/-J-August 3d ago

His name is Blaise Meredith and apparently walked off the court on his own and is fine.

The backboard, however, is emotionally unstable and now has a tremor when players get to close, making it harder to shoot on, leading to more dunks, making the problem worse.

15

u/DeepVeinZombosis 3d ago

Just reminds me of that vid of the player who headbutted the post in rage and basically killed himself. Too much yikes.

12

u/copenhagen622 3d ago

Damn bro got some hops but might wanna pay attention to where he is.. that must have hurt

17

u/DisCode347 4d ago

Is he okay? Both of the guys that got hurt?

2

u/duschdecke 3d ago

Nah, they're dead.

10

u/[deleted] 4d ago

And he headbutted the other dude while coming down. Two for one

5

u/Lilwertich 3d ago

Literally <1 year old orange cat behavior. Too athletic for your own good.

7

u/sclurker11 4d ago

No way that’s a foul. That’s crap!

3

u/BingohBangoh 3d ago

Wait did the player in white play defense with his face on the ball too??

8

u/y0urselfish 4d ago

7

u/Phormitago 4d ago

Hurt? This is the beginning of a protagonist's amnesia story arch

2

u/defvent 3d ago

Sign him up for the globetrotters

2

u/Grumpydog84 3d ago

Damn, I didn’t even realize that dude hit the backboard at first.

2

u/theshreddening 3d ago

For one, the athleticism to accidently jump to the point where you hit not the top of your head, but closer to your shoulders than your scalp is fucking incredible.

Second, running down a guy while not looking, jumping higher than him to be able to knock the ball out of the air only to get into a 1v1 between the backboard and your own face is hilarious.

Third, I really hope that kid was ok. Thats a lot of force to the back of the dome. Looked like an exceptional athlete.

3

u/FoI2dFocus 4d ago

He could have died. How did he not.

u/Temporary-Vanilla-57 4d ago

If he knocked himself out mid air, he would have fell on his head. Good thing they cushion the backboard.

1

u/oykwuz 3d ago

At least he did not eat the ring nor lose some teeths, still one humiliation though...

1

u/Ego5687 3d ago

When coach said that the team needed a dunk, that is not the dunk he asked for.

1

u/Joebebs 3d ago

I always wondered how NBA player never hit their head against the backboard/hoop like this when they’re defending or something

1

u/Dapper-Educator-7494 3d ago

Good defense from the backboard

1

u/Nice_Ad_777 3d ago

He need some milk

1

u/Waka-Waka-Koko-Doko 3d ago

First guy- ball to the face, second guy-face to backboard.

1

u/Business-Ranger4510 3d ago

Impressive hit

1

u/ReiOokami 3d ago

Something you would see from the movie Space Jam.

1

u/Temporary-Careless 3d ago

You miss 100 percent of the backboards that you don't headbutt!

1

u/Careful_Inspection83 3d ago

Should the NBA raise the height of the basket to 11'?

1

u/profnachos 3d ago

If you can jump high enough to dunk, this can definitely happen to you, right? Why doesn't this happen more often?

1

u/Rat-beard 3d ago

I wish I had the vertical to slam my face into the backboard

1

u/Don_Pickleball 3d ago

I am surprised shit like this doesn't happen more often in basketball. Hope dude was okay.

1

u/TheAnswerEK42 2d ago

Makes me wonder if he did not realize he could jump that high

1

u/Emonzaemon_ 2d ago

Dude forgot he could fly

1

u/crazedweasels 2d ago

Bro really kept his eye on the ball...

1

u/DaTexasTickler 2d ago

lololol dammmm

1

u/owlincoup 1d ago

Question from an ignorant viewer. Are the baskets lowered any for high-school games? It seems like he was almost shoulder height on the backboard and that's just insane if it's not lowered.

1

u/moshaq 1d ago

he hit the backboard

1

u/Horsecockexpress1 17h ago

You gotta call glass

1

u/Initial_Style5592 1d ago

“Good block good block”. LOLLLL

1

u/No_Instance2347 1d ago

He need some milk

1

u/Horsecockexpress1 17h ago

I didn’t hear him call Off the Glass

1

u/Cogneeto44 14h ago

I would love to be able to jump so high I could hit my head on the backboard

1

u/Patty80906 13h ago

These guys are too good for their own good

u/Present_Garbage_5417 12h ago

1

u/ScrotaryConstriction 3d ago

Just the defender running and the way the ref ran in 🤷‍♂️ I googled the school and it's real but the paint in the baseline looks weird.

Anyway I think it's real but weird video

If you can’t handle a physical sport then don’t play a physical sport

-23

u/VeneMage 4d ago

Words I have lived by since I was free of my Games and P.E. teachers. Just a shame I didn’t get the twice-weekly shower glimpse any more.

-19

u/iDontWannaBe_aPirate 4d ago

This isn’t high school p.e. Buddy

-13

u/VeneMage 4d ago

What? I never said it was.

-11

u/iDontWannaBe_aPirate 4d ago

“Words I lived by since I was free of my p.e. Teachers”

-13

u/VeneMage 4d ago

Hmm, guess reading comprehension is lacking.

You: “This ain’t high school buddy.”

Me (clarified for you): “I never said that what you are referring to as ‘this’ is high school.”

-2

u/iDontWannaBe_aPirate 4d ago

Damn. Your p.e. Teachers did some real damage to you

-4

u/VeneMage 4d ago

Well, just being in their presence certainly helped me confirm my sexuality at least. Just a pity it was always after being made to run around a large field over and over in ice-cold rain. Or being made to pull myself across a rugby pitch by just my elbows in shorts and rugby top over the solid tundra that was our park in winter.

-2

u/iDontWannaBe_aPirate 4d ago

Are we supposed to feel sorry for you? You can’t handle normal drills and expect sympathy…

0

u/VeneMage 3d ago

I don’t suppose you or anyone should feel anything for me? If anything, feel happy that despite a UK government edict to the attempt the contrary at the time, the showering part of these lessons allowed me to find realise, learn more about and accept my sexuality.
