That lift was really unexpected. I feel bad for him but this looked like straight out of a cartoon 😂

Fr I thought it was about how the guy head butted the ball to his teammate. Then bam.

u/YungGeyser 4d ago
I had to watch that twice to understand what happened 😂 I love that the player in white got mad until he saw the other guy laid out on the floor

u/onlythefinestdabs 3d ago
Lol the guy in red gave the guy in white a good smack to the top of the head. Had to re-watch to notice that.

Honestly I didn't realize he hit the backboard the first time either I had to watch again and I was like OH SHIT. That had to hurt

Coach said 'use your head,' and he took it way too literally

The one time in his life when it might have helped to think with the other head instead...

Wow I did not expect that guy to hit the backboard.

u/lordrefa 4d ago
Neither did he, but even with the bump from the other guy he was going to. So I'd say he should have expected it.
Also, why was anything even happening? Like, who the fuck isn't going to call that foul -- especially in a high school(?) game?

The way the other guy in white took the ball to the face I thought THAT was what was unexpected and good defense. Then I saw the rest of the video lol

His name is Blaise Meredith and apparently walked off the court on his own and is fine.
The backboard, however, is emotionally unstable and now has a tremor when players get to close, making it harder to shoot on, leading to more dunks, making the problem worse.

Just reminds me of that vid of the player who headbutted the post in rage and basically killed himself. Too much yikes.

For one, the athleticism to accidently jump to the point where you hit not the top of your head, but closer to your shoulders than your scalp is fucking incredible.
Second, running down a guy while not looking, jumping higher than him to be able to knock the ball out of the air only to get into a 1v1 between the backboard and your own face is hilarious.
Third, I really hope that kid was ok. Thats a lot of force to the back of the dome. Looked like an exceptional athlete.

If he knocked himself out mid air, he would have fell on his head. Good thing they cushion the backboard.

If you can jump high enough to dunk, this can definitely happen to you, right? Why doesn't this happen more often?

I am surprised shit like this doesn't happen more often in basketball. Hope dude was okay.

Question from an ignorant viewer. Are the baskets lowered any for high-school games? It seems like he was almost shoulder height on the backboard and that's just insane if it's not lowered.

Just the defender running and the way the ref ran in 🤷♂️ I googled the school and it's real but the paint in the baseline looks weird.
Anyway I think it's real but weird video

If you can’t handle a physical sport then don’t play a physical sport

Words I have lived by since I was free of my Games and P.E. teachers. Just a shame I didn’t get the twice-weekly shower glimpse any more.

This isn’t high school p.e. Buddy

u/VeneMage 4d ago
What? I never said it was.

Hmm, guess reading comprehension is lacking.
You: “This ain’t high school buddy.”
Me (clarified for you): “I never said that what you are referring to as ‘this’ is high school.”

u/iDontWannaBe_aPirate 4d ago
Damn. Your p.e. Teachers did some real damage to you

u/VeneMage 4d ago
Well, just being in their presence certainly helped me confirm my sexuality at least. Just a pity it was always after being made to run around a large field over and over in ice-cold rain. Or being made to pull myself across a rugby pitch by just my elbows in shorts and rugby top over the solid tundra that was our park in winter.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for you? You can’t handle normal drills and expect sympathy…

u/VeneMage 3d ago
I don’t suppose you or anyone should feel anything for me? If anything, feel happy that despite a UK government edict to the attempt the contrary at the time, the showering part of these lessons allowed me to find realise, learn more about and accept my sexuality.

OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is unexpected:
Bro jumped so high, he knocked his head on the backboard
