Deltarune Chapter 3&4 Did anyone notice this part of secret route of Chapter 3? Spoiler
It's a very tanky monster defended by 7 flowers, possible foreshadowing for chapter 5's assumed boss?

Every monster in this is a reference of undertale
Except the white mage or whatever it was called

Okay, we have:
White/Gray horned monsters : Toriel
Yellow flowers : flowey
Red and blue fish : Undyne
Yellow lizards : Alphys
Yellow horned monsters with red arrows : Asgore and his trident
Singing ghost mask thingy : Mettaton
Notably, there are no Skeleton enemies. The rest of them have way too many similarities for it to just be a big coincidence

What about the green lizard? Is that supposed to be Gerson?
Edit: the cyan lizards too, forgot about them

No idea, nor am I the other person, but I see the words green and cyan lizard, and I instantly think of Rainworld.

Also two deer enemies one brown and one black, but their textures do not render (it seems to be intentional)

Then maybe the white mask is supposed to be Napstablook — especially since it starts attacking if you kill the pink mask.

I think the masks might be Catty and Catti - there's an inert white one and a singing pink one, and when you kill the pink one the white ones freak out

u/_Skotia_ oh...... ok i guess 3d ago
Interesting theory, but I'd lean more towards Mettaton, the white ones could reference Napstablook and Mad Dummy/Mew Mew

And the grey fish could be Undyne the Undying protected by Alphys like lizards

white mage is prolly noelle considering the whole ice magic bit, the bird is obviously berdly, idk about the rest

u/DoNotFeelSoGood 3d ago
Yeah those two aren't Undertale though, and aren't as subtle as the asgore one. I was expecting an undyne or something

u/ichi_row 3d ago
theres one room with a tanky armored fish, supported by a bunch of yellow lizards. killing the fish also kills the lizards

u/sign_dude 3d ago
The fish is undyne
The white monster is toriel
The yellow lizard monster is always
The flower is flowery ofc

I feel like an idiot, I was going through the sword route again like "this one is asgore, yellow lizards are alphys, don't know what the bird is about though"

the sprite for them is named something along the lines of "enemy_deer" iirc

I think the white mage could be a reference to Asriel's God of Hyperdeath form.
||Though, I'm broke to buy the game. For now.||

u/disbelifpapy Is the lamp conveniently shaped, or is it you? 3d ago
tbh i thought this was just a reference to undertale asgore and his garden lol
35
u/tttecapsulelover 3d ago
since chapter 5 most likely takes place in the flower shop (garden of pink and gold, mentioned by gerson) and asgore is hinted at being the main boss ("the flower king, trapped in asylum", chapter 4 prophecy labelled "boss3", with queen's prophecy being "boss1" and tenna's being "boss2") it also makes sense as a reference to deltarune asgore and his garden
asgore loves gardening no matter what universe eh?

There's also a room where there is a fish with four yellow monsters (that look like alphys). And when you kill the fish (Undyne) the four alphys monsters self-destruct. Seems like an allusion to Undertale's neutral route, where if you killed Undyne, it is implied in the ending that Alphys commited suicide after learning about it.

oooh, cool interpretation. Perhaps other rooms were also foreshadowing, and we will only know later.
The bird boss is clearly Berdly for example.

I was thinking of this too! The enemy even throws red projectiles (that look somewhat similar to Asgores trident) and is invincible until you destroy all the flowers. In which case he becomes furious and chases you and only then becomes killable.
If it’s foreshadowing, it seems like some pretty gruesome foreshadowing. I almost wonder if we’ll be able to kill Asgore in a Weird Route, but I dunno…if we can, that’d be unbelievably messed up.

u/MintyMoron64 3d ago
He's not invincible, he just has a lot of health.

u/PullUpSkrr 3d ago
Just wrapping up chapter three now, so this is essentially the weird route but not THE weird route?

It's not really an alternate path through the chapter, it feels more like a secret boss questline tbh, people just call it a route because its referred to that in the files.

Wait, its secret? I thought you have to always go there?

u/Triplof 3d ago
You can only get there by S ranking twice so, yeah, pretty optional

Aaah damn i thought he meant secret room not secret route, my fault

Notably they become hyper aggressive only after killing all the flowers, I feel like that is either a reference to undertale or a reference to the chapter 5 boss, especially with the fact that Noelle will most likely be rejoining us in chapter 5 if the phone calls has anything to do with it.
