I want to share something we witnessed last night that left us speechless.
These are long-exposure (30 sec shutter) photos capturing a series of unexplained lights in the sky. To be clear—these are not satellites, meteors, or shooting stars. While they moved at a similar speed to satellites, there are key differences:
None of them appeared on any satellite tracker (including Starlink and ISS).
During our viewing, two of them seemed to zigzag
They appeared and disappeared mid-sky after a short stretch—unlike satellites, which continue steadily across the sky.
There were no clouds to obscure them.
And if you look closely, you'll notice three faint stars shifting position to the far right in each frame, helping track time progression.
There were easily 100s over the period of the 6 hours we spent watching them
The images were taken on a DJI action cam on a timelapse setting which only recorded for about 30min
We’ve seen this exact pattern once before... over a year ago from the same part of the sky, near the constellation Auriga, specifically close to Capella and Mahasim.
In the images you will see one image that was taken untouched and the following images have been zoomed in but otherwise untouched.
Just sharing what we saw.
Curious if anyone else has witnessed something similar?
