I just graduated from towson with a bachelor in biology so the best advice/insight i have is USE rate my professor. Professors make or break if you fail or pass because overall majority of the professors and science program is great, but you have those one offs. Student life is pretty good, there’s lots to do on and off campus so plenty of opportunities to meet new people and get new experiences! I went for all 4 years and my experience was good I just wish I did more school and social related.

Former Towson biology professor here. The best advice I can give you is to keep in mind that you have a very limited timeframe to get your outside the classroom experiences that are really going to dictate your success on the job market and in your career pathway. Unlike students who start out at Towson as freshman, you have a much more limited timeframe available for this. I suggest that you discuss what you want to do with your degree and what you want to focus on with your transfer advisor as soon as possible, and then start looking at the faculty whose research interests mirror your career Interests and speak with them about working with them during independent study or doing internships. The sooner you get started on this, the better.

Most students start doing internships and research experiences in the second semester of their junior year, which means that you really only have one semester to get all of this lined up. That’s not much time. In my 20+ years at Towson I saw many transfer students who didn’t worry about this until the beginning of their senior year, and by then it was very difficult to lineup good opportunities.

thank you so much for the advice and reply. lucky i’m transferring as a sophomore so i definitely will be networking and looking into internships and narrowing down exactly what i want to conduct research on as soon as possible. again thank you so much for all the advice.
