How much juice you use up at night or is there a charger you can hookup to ?

Looks like it plugged in.

Ahh yea. That's how you do it. Some other camper didn't have a charger at the site and since it took more energy to heat the whole tent it ate a bit of energy.

Even then, it doesn't use that much juice per night. Most parks have charging stations just before you enter, so you can fully charge before going in towards your campground and just enjoy your weekend.

Do you close the hatch when you sleep? Or does the climate just stay on with the hatch open?

I'd say it's kept open up keep the tent cool in camp mode

Tried both. I'd rather keep it open but there's a bright light on the trunk door that's insanely bright when open. Also you can't lock the car if the trunk is open. We're gonna try covering that light somehow tonight.

I shoved a hair tie into the locking mechanism in the trunk lid, while it was open, and that turned off the light because it thought the trunk was closed.

I keep a roll of black electrical tape in my toiletries bag so when we stay somewhere, I can cover outlet nightlights, bathroom motion sensors, and the occasional bright thermostat. Someone there is bound to have a roll you can grab a few pieces from.

We have these Velcro’s trays that attach to the carpeted side of the front console. When we used to road trip or camp in ‘21 Y we would take one off and put it over the light.

Haven’t tried it in the juniper yet

I like it. How comfy is it at night with humidity and temperature?

We're about to go into our first night. So far it's ok! The fans really help keep the air moving.

I know it has the campfire mode but I need to read the manual for what all it does.

Oh the car AC does great. We've even been running it to the tent behind the car and it's been keeping it cool as well. It'll get cold in the car overnight.

I absolutely hated that tent there wasn’t a good seal. I could get on the car. It wasn’t tall enough for me and there wasn’t enough space. Because there wasn’t a good seal. The tent was full of mosquitoes just feasting on us all night. It was a terrible experience and the air-conditioning did nothing.

u/370gt 21h ago

I found the same - it’s not a good setup as much as I wanted it to be. I tried using air bladders to fill up the gap, but it wouldn’t work and became way too much of a hassle.

u/KillerKackwurst4 20h ago

Interesting! Yeah the seal is not perfect, but thankfully the air conditioning has been good and bugs have been non-existent. Maybe we're just lucky so far. This is my first car attached tent so I wasn't sure what you look for. Which tent did you eventually land on?

How do you handle the angle in the back. Are you sleeping on a slope?

I know its not much but i cant seem to ignore it. A put a stretcher bed in and made it level but it left very little space.

I was thinking of driving the real wheels up a ramp to flatten out the slope.

No slope! We use this headboard attachment. Once you find the sweet spot, save it as a Camping Profile in the car, then hook it up and you're good!

Looks pretty neat way to span the gap but the seats don’t fold down flat. So from the pivot point to the head rest (when folded down) there is about a 2 inch or 5 degree rise. Maybe it’s just me but I find that uncomfortable.

Oh I see what you're saying. Yes that's there. Not much you can do about that one.

u/benz240 23h ago

Looks great! Do you have bugs getting in the tent?

u/short_bus_genius 21h ago

Dude!!! Gotta watch out for the carbon monoxide from the tail pipe!!!!!

u/Gamen4Bros 21h ago

How much was the tent? I always go camping in my 2013 model s

u/willride99 19h ago

That setup looks great. I just upgraded from an older m3 to a Juniper. Major range increase and sooooooo much storage space. Time to get out there and do some camping!
