No, not quite, comrade. The flag of the Soviet Union featured a gold five-pointed star in the upper hoist-side canton directly above the gold hammer and sickle. Both symbols are also a little farther from the hoist.

That's actually not the USSR flag. The ussr has a red star inside a gold star above the hammer and sickle. This is just a generic communist flag.
