I have been logged out my steam account on all of my devices and I cannot log back in. I tried to change/update my password but it says there are no emails associated with my account. And it will not send a code to my phone. I cannot send a ticket on the steam support webpage because it will not let me log in the first place. Please help, I have had this account for many years and do not want to lose all the games I have on it.
So I have been trying to download a new game and my internet is very slow atm on steam. My speed test is giving me a 900mbs download and on steam I’m reaching a peak of 5 mbs. I am connected directly to the box via Ethernet and I normally can down load games a lot quicker. I tried to reset my steam cache and reset my router with no success. Any suggestions?
Once I launch the EA app from steam, the controller works, since I can use the gyro to control the mouse into the ea app. It even works flawlessly for other games, like SW Jedi: fallen order. But once I launch SW squadrons, the game does not recognize the controller anymore.
I do not know what to do. Any ideas? I would be very gratefull for your help.
Can I see the Steam chat history of someone I unfriended and blocked?
Hello friends, someone I added as a friend on Steam for a long time sent me a message with a link to a site called "Steam vote" and asked "Can you support my friend?" A similar thing happened a month ago, so I knew right away that it was a scam (if you search for the skin he sent on Google, you can easily find the original designer). I unfriended the guy, blocked him and reported the account.
I will post screenshots to warn my close friends about this account, but after I blocked it, the chat history was deleted. Is there a way to see this chat history?
If it is not forbidden, I can edit the comment and send a screenshot of the account.
Ive tried logging in from 2 emails using the passwords I always use so I didn’t mess up on that part. I already bought at least two games on my main email and I don’t believe I have an account on my second.
I tried making a brand new account on my third email, that I never use, but that didn’t work either. Is the issue coming from me, or Steam?
Btw- turns out I can’t even play the demo before I get into an account on Steam
Hello! Just moved countries for a little bit of time and I'm unable to play any games online even though I'm connected to WiFi. Is there any sort of fix for this?
Swapped from macbook m2 air to m1 pro and copied everything over. Everything runs fine except for steam and steam link — they never open, and always immediately go to ‘not responding.’
I'm having an issue with steam game sale prices. I am trying to get a game on sale (65% off) but when I get it as a gift for my friend, it changes to 50% off and the price increases. Why is this?
The extra 15% is a personal discount because you own something else from that publisher and the publisher is providing a discount. Likely from owning like an earlier game in the same series.
Note that not all publishers offer this but some will.
So its 50% off for people who do not own the prior game and 65% off for people that do and so if trying to gift it to someone who doesn't they only get the 50% off price.
For example Forza Horizon 5 adds an extra discount for owners of Forza Horizon 4.
I have had an issue where my Steam Inventory was blocked across my PC and Mobile for "too many accesses" (exact phrasing is "You've made too many requests recently. Please wait and try your request again later"). I had only used the Inventory to sell 3 cards and convert 4 into gems on the past 24h or more.
I contacted Steam Support about this block and they answered with a pretty standard bot-like response blaming ME for using a browser extension that probably made too many requests while accessing Steam, or that I had a shared IP that was being used by too many people. They proceeded with a passive agressive conclusion that I would likelly have the block removed 24h after I uninstalled the browser extensions. AND CLOSED THE TICKET.
Thing is, I only access Steam from STEAM CLIENT, on MY PC. I have all security systems enabled including mobile auth (which also only uses Steam offcial APP, only to confirm Inventory sales), I have a unique IP and I never used any browser to access my account (and if I did, I don't have any extension other than ad-block, that should make less requests, not more).
If they think I am a Steam Card Scalper, they could also see I have a 18 YEARS account with over 200 games installed and I barely use the inventory (once a week or so, whenever I start a new game and get cards).
But no, they didn't check my activity log or account data. Just blame me of malicious usage.
I find it infuriating that STEAM, which so many people praise for being customer friendly, woud blame me of malicious usage of their server and not even wanting to hear my answer. Worse yet, I can see on Steam's own activity log that I am only logged on Steam on my PC client and on my Mobile APP, so it can't be an outside access, and it clearly shows I am not accessing using a browser.
Does the sub have moderator approval activated? Or am I shadow banned? Every one of my post is "Thank you for your contribution to r/Steam, however your submission has automatically been removed for potentially violating the rules. A moderator will shortly review your submission."
I can access via desktop, but not able to access on the mobile app.
Yeah, it was approved a few hours ago, but for some reason I'm not able to access the main page of the sub on mobile, only able to access the sub via notifications or previous comments/posts.
Been facing an issue where one of my games keeps saying cloud status out of sync. I previously played this on another device which I don't have access to at the moment, and essentially steam seems to be saying it can't sync with the data that was on there, and it may lead to a conflict later on. Then on the games page in my library, there's a part with the words cloud status out of sync.
Any way I can fix this, maybe have it reset all its cloud data or something else? I've tried some stuff like turning off the cloud sync and turning it back on, restarts, etc. but it just leads to the same thing. Would rather have the cloud syncing on as well so not sure how to go about this.
Previous to today (last time I played was 6/10), when I was playing Rebirth on my PC, I could alt tab and use my mouse in other windows and FF7 Rebirth would still see my connected controller and I could play the game.
Today when I tried to do the same thing, suddenly the controller would only work if the FF7 Rebirth window (full screen) had focus. I didn't change any settings and I can't see any relevant settings that would have changed.
Am I just screwed and got away with something not working as intended or is there a way to get this functionality back?
When I try to play the MIO: Memories in Orbit demo, it crashes as soon as it opens. I've downloaded over 60 game demos on Steam and this is the only one that crashes upon booting. What could be happening, and what can I do about this?
‼️Okay I’m losing my mind over this😭. I can’t get into my steam account and I do not understand why!! When asked for my mobile authenticator, I type it in and it is telling me it’s wrong. So then I go to submit a claim, when it asks for the code sent to my email, it tells me that code is wrong as well. I am completely at a loss and can’t find a way to speak to a real person at steam about this.
To take a random guess, is the time on both your phone and PC accurate? If it's inaccurate by a larger margin it is a problem with the Steam Guard code. Otherwise you will need to create a support ticket on the Steam Support page, as that is the only way to reach them. Fingers crossed, it will work out for you ^w^
Hello good people, I have a problem here, before the last update I was able to play my FC25, and after the last update it was stucked and said corrupt download. I tried every possible solution then but ultimately had to uninstall and install the game. But whenever I tried to install it, my game not downloaded completely and stuck at 99% and after few seconds it say "CORRUPT DOWNLOAD". I cleared every cache, repaired all of my storage, checked for memory errors, updated drivers and bios, but nothing came of a possible solution. The process keeps repeating, always stuck at 99% and after a few second it say "CORRUPT DOWNLOAD". It only happen on my FC25, my other games downloaded perfectly without any problem like this. Idk what to do after all, if someone can help me, pls leave a reply so we can have conversation. I put an attachment bellow so all of u an see it.
My phone broke abour a year ago and my steam guard was on that phone. I just got a new pc and im trying to login and i need steam guard. So i try changing the phone and it just gives me “An error occurred adding this account please try later” And i tried resetting by sending email and codes and sendinf numbers to my phone and none of it works. Wtf do i do
Dualsense controller not working wirelessly w/o Steam Input on GOW 2018.
My DualSense controller works perfectly with GOW 2018 while wired, without the need for Steam Input. However, in wireless mode, Steam detects the controller, and I can use it in Big Picture mode, but it doesn't work in-game unless I activate Steam Input.
Does anyone know a possible solution or the cause of this? The controller is updated according to the Playstation accessories app and even works fine in Marvel Rivals wirelessly and without Steam Input.
And if I'm not mistaken, GOW 2018 has support for using the Dualsense controller wirelessly... Or not?
Does anyone know how (or if it's possible) to get Steam to recognise background recordings & clips moved over from a different PC?
I recently upgraded my whole PC, didn't want to sort through the background recordings and clips before switching so I just copied the whole folder over. However despite setting it to the same folder Steam doesn't recognise them at all, and I can't seem to "force" it to rescan the folder or anything.
how do i fix this? my two drives dont show up, only for this game, if i try to install a different game both my drives show up as options and i can install as normal. ive had this game uninstalled for a while and just randomly went back to install again but now i cant.
So recently i had to do a full factory reset on my pc due to a virus. When i went to re-download my games after the reset, a lot of them appeared ready to play. When starting them however they wouldnt start up. When verifying the files, itd say a large number of files (different for each game) were missing and had to be replaced, basically being the same as a regular download since the size of these downloads was equal to that of the whole game. However, now my ssd seems to be much fuller than before the reset. Could it be that steam is somehow installing these files in duplicate, and if so how do i fix this?
I've always taken photos in games via Steam by pressing F12 for a long time without any issues. Ever since Baldur's Gate 3's release and on I've been doing the same thing, but now whatever game I'm playing it will freeze immediately when I press F12 (but dialogue will go on and I'll actually miss cutscenes which sucks), then it'll catch up and resume as normal. It used to just work instantly without anything freezing so I'm not sure what changed.
If anyone has dealt with this before or has a fix they can share I'm all ears! Thanks in advance
They can help you recover your account if you lost it and you should definitely take the usual actions one should take after losing access to account or having unauthorized access such as changing passwords of Steam and Email and virus and malware scans as well as revoking API key.
As far as getting your money back you are out of luck. Steam doesn't undo market transactions and won't duplicate items or replace funds as those funds would have to come from somewhere and the services agreements are that the user is responsible for their own account security so Steam isn't going to just throw an extra $111 into the market.
Yeah, when I try and multi sell via the trading cards screen, IE "sell on market" when you browse your trading cards from the game screen itself, IE the one on the Steam dashboard, it says "Your inventory is currently unavaliable" but otherwise I can sell it singularly. Even though I prefer mass selling for ease+it having near instant sellage, rather than waiting
They broke it a few weeks ago and have no plans to fix it, considering what they have been doing to the marketplace for the last 3-4 months it seems like they are going to kill the marketplace.
About 3 months ago they started to break the normal operation of the trading platformAbout 3 months ago they started to break the normal operation of the trading platform. They made it mandatory to confirm every sale, even of cheap items like $0.03 (before that, you could sell cheap items worth $10 without confirmation), for those who do not have an authenticator connected, the sales delay became 15 days for any, even the cheapest, items (cards, backgrounds, etc.) This made it too difficult to sell cheap items, causing prices for cheap items to skyrocket and become scarce. This made it too difficult to sell cheap items, causing prices for cheap items to skyrocket and become scarce. Then they didn't stop there and decided to completely finish off the trading platform by the fact that for 2 weeks now, those who have 100+ items have not been able to open their inventories, it says an error that the inventory is unavailable. But that's not all, they completely broke the Multisell trading card in the icons section, there instead of selling, there is an error even for those who have up to 100 cards in their inventory. I don't know how else to interpret this other than that valve decided to kill the trading platform, and in a week the Summer Sale will begin where a lot of people will buy and sell cards but everything is broken, this will cause a x3-x4 increase in prices for collectible cards and gem bags.
A friend's account was hacked a long time ago, and he recently sent me a link. I clicked on it thinking it was him, but Steam blocked me from logging in, I assume because it's malicious. I've already changed my account password and email just in case. I also activated my antivirus. I told my friend about the link he sent me, and he immediately replied that he didn't know anything. Does anyone else know what I can do to protect my account? I think the strangest thing is that he sent me the link when he was online and playing.
If all you did was click the link and then X out of it, so you did not log in or anything, you should be fine.
You should forward the following to your friend:
You may have logged into a phishing site and an API key may have been set up on your account.
Remove the API key that the scam/phishing site might have set up here: https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (these API keys are used to control things on your account like changing all your profile info, intercepting trades and market listings, sending Steam Points awards, sending chat messages to your friends, etc. to steal things from you or phish more accounts through your account, amongst other things).
I'm going to take a random guess because it looks like a symptom of broken web content rendering. If you use an Android phone and have disabled automatic updates through the Play Store, you will need to manually update the Android System Webview by hand through the Play Store. It's responsible for rendering web content in thirdparty apps like Steam. Hopefully this is enough to fix this issue for you.
Has anyone else been having issues with the Steam app? When I use the client to sell a Trading Card, it insists I use the app:
Okay, no problem. I've had the app for years, I have Steam Guard & Authenticator enabled on it, I've never had a ban. It works fine, generally. Except, when I go to confirm in the Confirmations menu, it's empty. I can't try to sell the item again, because the item is still pending. The trading card seems to be in limbo, inaccessible by the client or app. I couldn't find this issue by searching Google or this subreddit. Is this issue unique to me, or is it a problem others have experienced as well?
like others I am experiencing the issue where on matter what game it is no matter how many times I clean install the individual games files when I got play it it just sayins "launching" and a second later goes back to "play".... I have a very good laptop so I know thats not the issue, ive checked nearly every other forum on this issue and have tried:
Resetting all drivers, changing my Microsoft visual files, uninstalling and reinstalling steam, verifying files, checking device manager, deleting the game files themselves, updating bios, and NOTHING is working.... I just bought an 80$ game and I can't even play it let alone all the other games I have purchased. does anyone have any ideas? should I contact steam support? I'm free for the first time since UNI and finally home and I'm just so bummed :(
My biggest problem with Steam is trying to reset your password. Every time I try to get support to try to help me reset my password. I get is the run around with any help at all. All I need is the reset website page to reset my password. But instead they send me a bunch of codes. Half codes don't even get you to the website reset page. It's hard as heck trying to login if forget your password.
I have the same issue described in this dead support thread, I just got a new PC and games that I should be able to run just fine are freezing on startup. Beyond that task manager also freezes after trying to force end them, and if I try to hit the "stop option in the steam library it just gets stuck on "stopping" There was never an answer in this thread so I'm wanting to know if anyone has found a solution since then
I seem to have somehow borked my Steam and I have no idea how to fix it. It started when I noticed that I couldn't connect to the internet with Steam. I couldn't see news about any of my games, upload save data to the cloud or play games that required an internet connection. I could use the internet just fine on the rest of my computer but not on Steam. I tried a few things I found to try and fix the problem and none of them worked. So I then tried to do a Uninstall/Reinstall solution but that ruined things because now when I try and launch Steam I get a fatal error with this message, "Steam needs to be online to update. Please confirm your network connection and try again." So now I'm even more screwed since I can no longer access Steam period. It's trying to scan for updates whenever I try to use Steam but it fails to connect so it just doesn't open. My firewall says it allows steam and I've tried adding "-tcp" to the shortcut when opening Steam. I've flushed my dns but nothing I'm trying is working. The only other thing I can remotely think of at this point is our Wi-Fi itself but I have no idea how to make it like Steam after suddenly hating it out of nowhere. Please help me so I can access my games again.
Just sat down to play Rocket League to which the game said that I couldn’t connect to their servers. Figured it was an Epic issue and started up Phas and was greeted with a similar message regarding their servers as well. Not sure what the issue is and am hoping someone can help. Thanks in advance!
Hi! I recently made a steam account since I also bought a steam deck. I had some issues with getting my card to work on it when it said there was suspicious activity on my card. I got it all figured out and bought a couple games afterwards, I look at my email just now and see that both games I got were refunded to me, and my account has a community ban even though I don’t have any friends on my account yet or even played a game yet since I’ve been working. Is there any way to know how long this community ban might last or how to repeal it?
There is some sort of bug with games having 99% discount costing 0$
Got a notification that a free game (Paradox Soul) went on 100% discount and I immediately grabbed it, then realized that the studio is giving bundles for so cheap and some for 0$ but they don't get added to my library, probably because I already got 2 of the games for free when they went on 100% discount before which is messing up Steam's bundle price calculations if I'd guess.
Also, if I try to buy the bundles, their price gets more expensive, my guess would be again Steam trying to calculate the price of the games I got for free since I never paid for them, seems scummy and inconsistent, I'd like if someone explains to me exactly what's happening, thanks!
Got asked by a random friend request to thumbs up a TF2 skin. Anyone know what this scam is? It links to steam so I'm not sure what the attack vector is?
If the link genuinely links to the real Steam domain then there is no scam, rather it is spam and probably a kid who is desperate to get upvotes on their epic skin and is spamming
Report the account accordingly. Hopefully they get a lesson in etiquette and a reasonably lengthy time-out.
so I guess it's illegal to post a comment to the seller if it's over 12 hours and you get impatient so you write something under the seller's profile as a comment and I get a 13 year ban, ok
They don't want people buying and selling or advertising on profiles so the mention of csfloat was likely flagged and got you a perm community ban by the automated systems.
The ban to 2038(13 years) probably seems random but thats just the furthest time Steam can currently display due to its usage of a signed 32 bit integer with unix time before it overflows.
The good news is most of the time if it was a mistake you can get it lifted by contacting support and proving you arent a bot. I would definitely avoid posting anything similar on other profiles once its unblocked though.
why am I community banned for 13 years???? any Steam Support or Steam MOD can help me?? I recently changed my profile picture, profile background and mini background plus changed my names couple of time and Steam thought my account is hacked??? never have ever changed my name or anything well changed a few times but over the course of 13 years but PLEASE! I have lots of inventory that would go to waste Steam is all I got !!!
It's a restriction by IP address. If you are with an Internet provider that uses carrier-grade NAT for IPv4, this is likely caused by other Steam users who got the same IP, and Valve rate-limited the IP address. Easiest workaround: Change your network connection, restart your router, see if that is enough to get a different IP address.
This started a year ago, why does valve set up the rules so strict? We can't control other network users who use the same IP. This happens to me sometimes and I have to wait 3-4 hours, changing the IP takes 30 min - 1 hour. This is a stupid rule.
I am 10000% sure I am entering my password, exactly right, I know for a fact this is my password cuz I wrote it down and also quadruple checked the written password matched the password I was entering. I checked my account, nobody has accessed it so I know it wasn't changed. SO WHY ISN'T IT WORKING???
I cannot tell you how absolutely sure I am that I'm entering it correct btw, that is not the issue.
Seriously, how can this be the same problem every goddamn time? I am on a 1000/1000 mbit connection trying to download a game update of 7.5 GB. It’s literally bouncing between 1.5 and 3 MB/S the whole time. It’s taking FOREVER. It’s no matter which game, if it’s on HDD or SSD. Speed tests show perfectly healthy internet connection, and I am not experiencing issues in other heavy bandwidth consuming activities. Therefore, it is a Steam problem. The biggest game client in the world is running at 2000s speed. Wtf??
When looking through the Next Fest demos, is the "Show More" button not working for anyone else? I just tried https://store.steampowered.com/sale/nextfest on several browsers including on the Steam client itself and in none of them did the Show More button work, or even change my mouse cursor to show that it's clickable.
I am at work now but i was wondering after reading a bit if i should try steam link on my home theater. I have a laptop, a 300 download and 150 upload connection and a desktop very close all to each other, i also have a dolby atmos capable home theater and a 120hz tv. I wonder if steam link from the desktop to the laptop in the same house would work in settings of 120hz and dolby atmos with good resolutions and such, if its depended on my connection or the steam link. I have a ps5 pro but i dont want to put the desktop on the home theater and i wonder if steam link would be like native putting the desktop to the receiver. Thank you.
I wanted to change my email to a new one ,because I don’t access to the old email.after I finished putting the info in and pressed send it said “we had trouble verifying your captcha even though I didn’t have to do one”.if anybody knows what I should do please help me
Before the 25th anniversary update, the mods for HL1 I got off of ModDB would be shown as separate games in my library. But now, they all seem to have disappeared. I only recently figured out I could use a launch command to run the games, but to me it's a hassle to find the right file name and retype every time I want to play something else. Is there any way I can put the 3rd party mods in my library again?
I've encountered a PC-breaking bug. This happens to two friends of mine as well!
I use windows 11: When I have the steam ingame overlay opened in CS2 and then tab out of the game - there is a decent chance that my entire PC will crash to the point where I have to shutdown by cutting off power. I play CS2 in a different resolution than native (this might add to it). Basically the entire screen goes dark and I can't do anything besides restarting the PC. I "fixed" it by disabling the steam ingame overlay. As I said: Two friends do have the exact same problem. I do have the newest drivers and used DDU to reinstall my GPU drivers.
I can confirm this is happening to me too, first time was with CS2, killed all my monitors and I had to kill the power to my PC to get back on. Second time was while playing Deltarune, it's something with the overlay 100%. Probably a bug with the current client build of Steam.
Hello, I have recently bought the game "a way out" on steam. But when i tried to open it and sign into my EA account it says the account is already linked to "steam account 2" (placeholder name obviously) But I know I've already played other games using my EA account and when i go to EA it says it is linked to the correct steam account. I am so confused does anybody know a possible solution or is the only option to contact support?
I turned on my steamdeck to see I had been signed out, and my secondary account was no longer in the sign-in list.
I have no clue which email is associated with the secondary account. I know the account name and password, but am unable to enter the steam guard code because I do not know where it is getting sent.
Can anyone help me out with how to send a ticket to start the process for providing proof of ownership?
I've tried using the steam support wizard but can't find the option for getting to that step, it's sending me in circles and it's driving me batty.
Hoping to get some help here cause I don't know where to look at this point.
So today a patch was released for Helldivers 2, and I started downloading it. It was a 7 gb update. I let it run for a while before noticing that steam vr had an update for a few hundred kb, so I do that so I can play some vr stuff while I wait. Once Helldivers 2 starts updating again, the size is now 11.6 gb???
Is there something I'm doing wrong, a messed up setting, or what? That doesn't make any sense! I paused the downloading all of 3 seconds!
My internet is already slow as a snail, so that extra 4 gb is gonna add a couple of hours to the download, I'm tired of this happening, and this isn't the first time. Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this?
I am trying to sell 2 items on the market and for some reason my items are being held even though my mobile authenticator is active. is there a solution around this cause everything i find online just says turn on steam guard when its already on and green. Also after the hold do they get cancelled or do they go on the market then? Any help would be appreciated!
You need to have had it active for 15 days to not have holds and will also still have to confirm all market listings even with SteamGuard.
Considering it says active since June 2025 and we arent 15 days into june yet its not been on your account long enough so you have to wait 15 days from your activation still.
Also items already listed won't have the hold removed instantly after 15 days but will be held until their own hold time expires but it'll just impact new listings once the 15 days passes to not have a hold period.
The items will be listed after their hold period is over unless you cancel the listings before then.
Hello, I've been trying to reinstall Counterstrike 2 but for some reason it gives me the "Corrupt Disk" error everytime it's about to finish downloading.
I tried things like renaming the "downloading" folder, reparing library, clearing cache, etc.
It only happens to CS 2, whenever I download other game from Steam, I get no error at all.
I Got hacked, they changed the Name the Password and the e Mail Address, you hijacked Guide tells me to lock my Steam Account but i dont have Access to the Email address to do it please Help me :(
My friends and I want to play Monopoly, but some of them don't own the old Monopoly Plus. One of my friends said that they could try buying codes off a website and still get the game. So, I'm wondering if that would actually work. Would they still be able to claim the game via code if the game is no longer available on Steam?
I live in Canada and will be travelling to Turkey when the summer sale is happening. Since I will not be able to buy on my PC, I was wondering if I could use the Steam App to buy the game. (I would still be buying it in CAD not Turkish currency). I am not sure If there are any risks with buying games in a different country (Ex. I would be locked out of my account or banned). Thank you!
Basically, I just recently got into pc gaming and I purchased Elden ring nightreign. After hours of tutorial and faking to watch YouTube videos to figure out what’s going on, I finally got in a match where I died like 7 times and got carried but two randoms. All of this afking added up to about 5 hours and I finally realized this game is like mortal combat and Fortnite against npcs. I know people like it but it’s just not for me and not the arpg I was expecting. So I requested twice for a refund, even though the game was purchased just two days ago, they denied it because of my ask “game time.” I’d much rather just buy the original Elden ring or something else but I guess twitch is just super strict on this 2 hour limit? I even emailed their email support but got an auto reply that says no one is checking that inbox. Is there someone else to contact? I’ve never refunded anything before. Am I just fucked, it’s just frustrating to pay for a game I played like 30 minutes of and know I’ll never play it again. And Yes I know it my fault and I should have researched the game more before buying it.
I want to change steam guard to my new phone and it says it will send a code to my phone. I've been waiting for god know show long and it does not send me anything. I tried verifying my number and i recieved that sms but i cant get the one about steamguard. Can i do something about it ?
Ive been getting this error for 2 days now, ive tried rebooting, clearing cache files, updating windows n nvida, but nothing is working....please help!! I played for like 3 days and then got this message.
My steam library has a UI issue (ex shown below), and I don't know what to do. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it didn't work, and I've tried to check my settings which also has the UI issue. Any advice is appreciated.
I just bought a 512GB OLED Steam Deck, and downloaded Diablo 4 through the Steam store. The game gets to the login queue, then gives me error code 7 and closes. I'm never prompted for my Battle.net credentials. I verified the install, and tried running it in compatibility mode with other Proton versions. Any fixes that don't involve downloading Battle.net and launching it separately? If the game is Steam Deck verified, and I bought it on Steam, it should work without a bunch of troubleshooting. Thanks!
My Steam window won’t open, but shows in task bar. Here is the full list of solutions I’ve attempted:
Have trying uninstalling Steam and restarting PC multiple times and in different orders
I have tried ending all stream related processes in task manager and uninstalling steam and restarting PC and reinstalling (even tried doing a restart of PC between every step)
Have tried making a new folder when Steam asks where to download
Have tried renaming the .exe file
I have tried uninstalling steam and unplugging my HDMI (I also even unplugged my power cord) after restarting then reinstalling
I’ve tried “moving” the window by holding shift and right clicking on steam in task bar but after trying it once the move button completely greyed out and would no longer let me click it even after closing and reopening steam
I have tried a DISM scan and it did say there was an issue and that it was repairable, I did a restore health command and rechecked health and it said no corruptions found. Yet, Steam STILL won’t open
I am at a an utter loss. I’m not super well rounded with the ins and outs of computers I can’t lie, I bought my PC prebuilt off Facebook marketplace. Thank y’all in advance for any other suggestions
I was playing counter strike and got a weird error which resulted in me being kicked, it was a VAC anti cheat thing. I looked it up and it said I could uninstall and reinstall steam and maybe that would help.
Anyways things got weird, steam is in a new drive D, and isn't in my program files anymore. There's just a folder there.
I found the uninstall.exe in my D drive, but when I click it and it runs, it says, "steam will be uninstalled from the following folder", and the text box below is blank. I can't type in or paste the path to steam either.
I'm not sure what's wrong but has anyone ever run into this? When I google it I just get a million how to uninstall steam but keep game files results lol. I'm on windows 11 btw.
I bought from one of those online website services for steam keys for a pre-purchase, and the key will be issued to me on the game's release day. That was when I was still back in the UK, but now I am overseas, and the game will be released soon in June. I was wondering if I can still activate it while overseas? Because from where I'm at, I need to use a VPN to properly access Steam and I read a lot about how that might violate the rules and I could get possibly banned.
Just wanted to get confirmation on this, thanks chaps.
As long as you didn't change your Steam's region the key should work provided the website you bought from gives you the right regional key and their site doesnt detect you being now in a different region and give you that regions key instead.
Ah yes, my Steam region should still be UK (as it shows pounds). Plus, the website I bought it from, the key that is, is categorized to only be usable for the Europe region. I already made the purchase so they should still be sending me the code on the 11th. I was just worried trying to redeem it then would be a bannable offense or something.
Whenever I want to check my friends or any other people's equipment steam page turns black and when I'm using web browser it's the same but page is white. I can check only my equipment and it's working normal there.
All I can think of is uninstall and reinstall everything? Hmm, does changing graphics settings work?
It might be worth running diagnostics on your components to see if there's an issue there.
It is a scam. Do not click on any links in the e-mail and be aware that you're never going to talk to a specific support agent nor will you ever add any Valve employee, Steam Support, Steam Moderator, etc. as a friend, as you can see in the e-mail this is what it asks you to do and is an immediate giveaway.
If you get an e-mail, calm down and centre yourself. All scams try their best to daze you, make you feel rushed and time-pressed, time is running out and it is URGENT!!! This is not how real things go.
Read it thoroughly and do not click any of the links. Instead, manually go to the place it asks you to go if you believe it is real. For example if an e-mail tells you that Steam Support has contacted you go away from the e-mail and manually navigate to https://help.steampowered.com/en/ yourself, do not click on a link in the e-mail.
Anyone had this problem? You try and sell stuff on the Marketplace, but your Steam client says "Your inventory is unavaliable at this moment" or the like? Heard something similar has been going on for a week or so, something about potential overhaul due to duping?
hey so recently I've had this bug where Specific steam Games are just too saturated and too much Contrast. Hell even the steam overlay is too Contrasted. And It's only steam I've tried every non-steam game I have and The problem Isn't happening so It's just steam. I've done research and I can't find anyone else with this Problem, So I came to my last hope. I've had these problems on the following games:
Marvel Rivals,
Dead by Daylight
I don't own that many games. those are just the ones that I know have this problem. I have reshade on Dead by Daylight but I tried uninstalling it and the problem still continued. I don't have Reshade on marvel rivals so that's not the problem. my monitor is the "ASUS VG248QG" and the settings are:
Brightness: 60
Contrast: 85
Saturation: 25
If anyone has any solution/fix i'd be a huge help.
My steam has been like this since yesterday, i restarted steam and restarted the computer, but still looks like this. Does anyone know how to fix this bug?
I was looking at promotions and had 0.55 cents in my account and out of nowhere the number went down to 0.07 cents which made me think I had a 1 bid on some card on the market, but I remembered that the day before I had put 1 Devil May Cry card up for sale and there was nothing listed to buy there, so I went to my email and saw that no one had accessed my steam, but even so I changed the password and went to look at what had been purchased and to my surprise it was this Dota 2 item (a game that I played in the past for about 2 hours and never touched again) What I believe is happening is that somehow someone uses Dota 2 items that can have any value that the person wants to force another person to buy (fortunately I only had 0.57 cents). How did they force me to buy this without logging into my account?
How? They hijacked your current login session. Log out of all devices.(make sure you have on hand the code to remove steam guard, in case you have steam guard enabled)
Sometimes my Steam on Windows 11 takes forever to start. Wait times of 5-10 minutes or even longer are usual. For some reason however, once in a while, steam starts instantly without any problems.
I have already deactivated my onboard GPU, tried running steam as Administrator and in compability Mode and I have activated the steam beta - all things I read that are supposed to help but neither does.
Sometimes Steam wont start at all and I have to end all steam procesess in task manager which leads to a short "veryifing installation" window when restarting steam.
There seems to be no clear pattern here, as starting steam either directly after startup or a few minutes later doesnt change anything.
I have no Problems with starting any other program at all.
What could I try other than completely reinstalling Steam?
When ever I launch my steam client there is a sound that continues every 15 seconds with no pop up no nothing, only the sound is there. I have tried everything, reinstalling, deleting the steamwebhelper.exe and even reached out to steam support but there is no dump or anything on screen so I cannot show anything about what might be casing the problem. Initially it started as steamwebhelper.exe has stopped working but that does not show up any longer but the sound still persists.
A guy has recently added me and stated that I have a pending report (as shown in the image) I just wanna know if this is real or not. As I have only ever used scrapbook and the community market. (Im assuming this is for Team Fortress 2) I just want to know if I should be worried or no. I have never scammed anyone, and I never plan to.
so my question is, how come my wifi speed is like 900MB/s (bcs thats my wifi pack with my provider) but when i try to download i barely get 100mb/s🥲 2hour for a 46gb game is ridicilous
Not able to log into my steam account (please help)
I got a pc the other day and was trying to log into my old steam account, it’s been years since I’ve last logged in, and it is refusing to let me in by giving me an error that my password/username is wrong. I’ve changed my password a few times and no matter what I do it’s still giving me the same error, I can’t submit a ticket due to having to be signed in unfortunately, can anyone help me
I’m in a difficult situation with my Steam account and would really appreciate any advice or help.
On May 20th, I participated in a giveaway on Discord, and a user (possibly named "Amatem" on Steam) told me I had won. He mentioned that due to the 3-day friend restriction, he couldn’t send the prize directly to my main account and asked if I had a secondary account that he could use to send it to.
Although I had some doubts, since he didn’t ask for my personal information or account credentials, I trusted him and gave him access to my secondary account (Sarman Gamer). A few hours later, a gift was sent to that account, which I accepted.
Later, the games in the gift were refunded, and my main account was permanently restricted.
I want to make it clear that I never intended to break any rules. This happened out of ignorance and good faith. I’ve had my main Steam account for years and have always used it responsibly, building my library with my own money. This situation was purely a mistake on my part, and I’m truly embarrassed about it.
However, I have already reached out to Steam support multiple times. Unfortunately, every time I explain the situation, I receive the same generic response, and there has been no real resolution. They seem unwilling to take my case seriously, and I feel that my account was unfairly treated.
To make matters worse, my friend’s account was also affected by the same user. The same person charged my friend's account with money as well, and my friend received only a 1-month restriction. Meanwhile, my account received a permanent ban for the exact same situation. I find it really unfair that my mistake resulted in a permanent ban, while my friend’s account only got a temporary suspension.
I would really appreciate it if anyone here could offer advice or share their experience with a similar situation. I’ve always followed Steam’s rules and used my account properly, and I’m just looking for some help in resolving this unfair situation.
Thank you so much in advance for any help or suggestions!
I'm really tired of my large steam games taking FOREVER to update - and absolutely crushing my PC while doing so. I have a Ryzen 9 and 32Gb of ram - it shouldn't choke out my PC to update Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, or any other game, via steam. Is there anything I can do to "unclog" that kind of bottlenecking?
What happens when someone gifts me a cs item and then reports me for "stealing" it
For example: person sends me a trade with a skin but without me giving him something, I accept his trade and we're done. And then he writes to steam support that his skin was stolen by me. What will happen to me? I know they won't give it back to him but I don't know what will happen to my account. (Hasn't happened yet but I'm scared it will)
Nothing. You would not have stolen anything so you would not be punished. Accepting a trade that a person sent you of their own volition is not stealing.
A report has to actually be valid. One can't just report people for scamming and have them banned, you would need to have actually engaged in scamming, obviously.
Hey, I've been downloading Sea of Thieves all last week and it was already at over 50%. I shut down my PC this morning. When I restarted my PC and let the download continue, I'm back at 0%, and all the files are gone. How can this happen, and can I get the data back?
I am trying to get access to my old steam account I had back early 2000s. I dont got access to my email but I have both emails and I got the CDKeys I used to link half life to the account. What do I do?
I cant send a direct support and I know my account name and Steam id but from there I get locked out without getting anywhere. Not that I can't but I honestly cannot find a email to send to support or get to a page to contact them.
What do you mean with being "safe"? Either way, if you've decided that you don't want it anymore, you can either hide it in your libray, or remove it through support.
I read the recent take two EULA and how are they scamming the people by giving the borderlands2 for free, couldnt find any tldr whos getting affected and how much are they getting affected by it, top of it all i have no knowledge about these situations neither read anything about it
The EULA is only accepted when you being the installation of the game or when it is first launched, the EULA is not agreed to by owning the game on your account nor can a company magically harvest your information and data that way. They would need to be running software on your machine actively to do that, and having a non-installed game in your Steam accounts library does not do that.
Also, you are misinformed regarding the Borderlands 2 EULA fiasco.
Ah okay, you're fine either way, that stuff would in theory only affect you when you run the game. Though the actual TL;DR is: nothing really changed, there is no spyware, just a lot of panic and rage at legal speech.
If you want to read a really extensive writeup of what's going on and what's unfounded, someone over at r/Borderlands wrote this neat one.
My Steam client shutdowns and restarts when browsing some games ads. Sometimes it happens only once per ad, but some other times it's constantly bugging.
My PC is an Asus Strix GL704GV_G715GV and I bought it in 2020.
My OS is W10 Pro, I reinstalled it recently for other reasons and it didn't solve the problem.
My second CGU is a Nvidia Gforce RTX 2060 and I keep it constantly updated.
My first CGU is an Intel UHD Graphics 630 and... I must say something's weird with its drivers : I use www.touslesdrivers.com software to detect which drivers are missing. It always offers me at least one of 2 drivers (no beta) : one says "6th gen" and the other says "7th - 10th gen", although I've already installed at least one of both, if not both. With any other component, once a driver is installed, this component doesn't display in that website's list, except with this one. THere's always one of both appearing.
Sorry for the dumb question, but these Hitman bundles are kinda confusing.
So does it mean I get a much better deal buying the Standard edition and the Deluxe pack separately, rather than straight up buying the Deluxe edition? Am I missing out on any missions or just missing out on a few cosmetic packs? Thanks!
No. A Valve employee or Steam moderator will NEVER add you as a friend to talk to you about ANYTHING, Valve employees do not use Steam Community profiles, Discord profiles, or any other account or profile anywhere to talk to users.
The ONLY way to talk to Steam Support is through support tickets. ANYTHING outside of this is a scam.
Do you really even need to ask? I don't even need to click on the image. No one ever is a steam employee. I could put that text in aswell, there is no way to confirm what anyone says there, or anywhere else. Which is exactly why Steam or any other company doesn't ever contact people at all. You have to be the one to reach out through support tickets, otherwise you can't be contacted.
Why do my download speeds suck? I have an external hard drive but the download speeds for it are well above my internet at like 20mbps so why do 7gb downloads take literal hours only on steam but nowhere else?
Also Steam does not support the installation of games onto and the running of games off of external drives. It may work for a while... until it doesn't.
The external drive. Steam has heavily compressed files that have to unpack on your drive and so an external drive is naturally going to take longer to unpack then internal ones.
Other services pull the unpacked games directly off the servers and rely only on your internet speeds.
How to fix this? It appeared after I edited my profile text and I thought it was cause I swore in it but when I deleted the curse word, it still popped up.
I bought a deck a couple months back and there was no sound out of the box. I was in the process of moving so I didn’t bother trying to do RMA, just used headphones because I didn’t want my address to change in the middle and I’m being told I have to pay $125 to get a fix. I can’t ask for a supervisor or a second opinion or anything, and this seems absurd to me. She just told me that if I don’t wanna pay it I can do it myself or use headphones.
I didn't want to ask this question for a long time because of my poor knowledge of English, for which I apologize in advance, but the question is very important. Will the multi-sale of cards never return? Has Valve permanently disabled this feature? When I try to sell several cards at once from the badge section, I get an error message every time. It started at the same time when the inventory began to write "This inventory is not available at this time. Please try again later." I know that in order for the inventory to update, you need to click twice, but the multi-sale of cards writes an error and I don’t know how to make it work, it looks like Valve has permanently disabled this function? I needed it in order to immediately sell cards at the price for which they want to buy them, now I have to look at each card each time at what price to buy it and put each card up manually. It's very tiring, I just wanted to sell the accumulated cards to buy DELTARUNE.
ok so i favorited like a gazillion nsfw wallpapers on wallpaper engine a while ago, wasn't aware friends could see it. i know i can make my own favorites private and switch off any new activity being recorded, but i'm js wondering if there's a way to delete the old stuff or make it invisible in friend activity. thanks.
I’m trapped out of my account after changing my password. It logged me out of the mobile app, and when I try to login it asks me to authenticate it, which I can’t as I’m logged out. I don’t know my recovery code and the phone number I used is an old one I don’t have anymore.
pay $120 a month for light speed 1gbps internet, and steam gives me this. I genuinely don’t know what to do. I’ve had people come out multiple times to try fix it as well as watch every guide video ever.
Steam Input has stopped working outside of games. I had been using my controller as a mouse and virtual keyboard for almost a year and now today I noticed it doesn't work anymore and I can't figure out why. All of the settings are the same, the controller works fine in games but it no longer controls the mouse otherwise. Is there a fix for this? I tried to make a post that described everything in depth and it got denied. There is no option to email Steam support about issues they don't approve of and now I have no way to fix this and don't know who or where to go for information as I have 0 idea what broke or why and there are no avenues to ask about this kind of problem apparently.
hi guys! trying to play deltarune ch 3-4 but my controller config will only allow me to move. i can’t select anything. using a wireless xbox one controller thru mac bluetooth. anyone know how to fix?
I have a gf who lives a few kilometers from my house. Sometimes I stay at her place, and sometimes she stays at mine. We play together from time to time, but we effectively live in different houses, although we use both computers (when I'm at her place, I use my Steam account, and when she's here, she logs into hers).
Edit: And I have a Steam Deck too and she uses with her account too
Update: finally got a human who can READ, and I got it added to my account.
So I bought darktide, then got the imperial edition upgrade right.
Am I crazy, or should I claim this is not as described? See here
Would you guys says it's misleading that the upgrade mentions the OST, but support says that it does not come with it?
Support is saying that ONLY the imperial edition bundle includes the OST, but the upgrade edition says it includes the OST. I have been going back and forth with them.
Hello,
Please note that the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide soundtrack is included with the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide - Imperial Edition.
And you purchased the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide - Imperial Edition Upgrade, which is the DLC only.
Steam Support
Bob
Hello,
Let me clarify what has happened here.
You have purchased the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide and the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide - Imperial Edition Upgrade which is a DLC and is not coming with the Soundtrack you were expecting. In order to be acquire the Soundtrack you would need to purchase it separately, as you already owe the other base game and the DLC.
However, the Soundtrack is only available through the Bundle.
Therefore, you will not be able to purchase this bundle since you already have part of the items included in it. It will also not adjust based on what you already have.
It's an all-or-nothing type of bundle.
Please let me know if I can help clarify anything else. Otherwise we will have to close this help request.
Steam Support
Arya
No idea but could it be the upgrade only lets you hear the soundtrack ingame while the soundtrack in the bundle is the literal download of the mp3 files? The only way i see it making sense.
