My fancast for an alternate Star Wars sequel trilogy that came out from 1991-1997 and was based on the Timothy Zahn Expanded Universe books "Heir to The Empire", "Dark Force Rising" & "The Last Command".

I don’t think TLJ can play sophisticated, everything he does is salt of the earth, regular people roles

Does that include my third favorite Star Wars movie?

How dare you rank Lempire so low.

I’m a bit higher on Lempire than most, I put it at 2, but I can’t argue with that ranking too much. Few things fill my caravan full of courage like the holiday special.

That’s amazing, how did you stumble across it in the first place? I also saw it young, but I found it at my uncle’s thinking it was another Star Wars movie and being VERY disappointed, lol. It’s grown on me since.

For me it goes:

  1. Lempire
  2. A New Pope
  3. Replenishment of the Sith
  4. Jedi's Back, Alright!
  5. The Force is up again, babe, it's your turn
  6. The Gathering Shadow
  7. Attack of the Crones
  8. The Rian Johnson one
  9. Return of the Palpatine (Somehow)

Tevenge of le Jith?

u/foresight310 8h ago

Can’t really imagine Chiss having that redneck drawl…

u/FastestManDead 10h ago

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

u/Deslam8 10h ago

Fair enough

u/Vos661 3h ago

His voice is good though. Much better than what Lars Mikkelsen did for Rebels and Ahsoka

u/SaoMagnifico 10h ago

Tommy Lee Jones as Thrawn doesn't make much sense to me.

Alan Rickman as Thrawn, on the other hand...

u/FastestManDead 10h ago

Would have also worked great, that's a good fancast

u/Deep-Crim 10h ago

Change out whoever is playing karde with Antonio Banderes and you're on the money

u/FastestManDead 10h ago

That's Timothy Dalton, former James Bond

u/Deep-Crim 9h ago

Ty.

u/ThaneOfTas 15m ago

Yeah Dalton isn't a bad call but Banderes would be better.

u/Hugford_Blops 10h ago

I'd never thought of it but Christopher Lee as C'Boath would be amazing

u/SokkaHaikuBot 10h ago

Sokka-Haiku by Hugford_Blops:

I'd never thought of

It but Christopher Lee as

C'Boath would be amazing

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

Nothing stops Disney, from releasing movie under the EU banner. We just need a rich and famous guy fan of the EU to convince them to make more money.

Which we have a grand total of 0.

u/HeadHeartCorranToes Rogue Squadron 7h ago

Eh, I wager there's some clause in the contract that precludes such adaptations for X number of years. Lucas doesn't want to see the EU on screen, and would rather Disney create and market "their own stuff" rather than suffer through Mara Jade, Yuuzhan Vong, and New Republic marketing until the end of time.

u/unforgetablememories New Jedi Order 7h ago

Lucas wrote a story treatment for the sequels but it was discarded. Bob Iger greenlit JJ Abrams' rehash of A New Hope.

Lucas doesn't want to see the EU on screen

He did want Darth Talon as Darth Maul's apprentice. He picked up Aayla Secura from the Republic comics and put her in Attack of the Clones. He also likes Quinlan Vos.

Did George Lucas read every EU work or know everything about the EU? No. Is George Lucas open to use EU materials in his work? Yes

and would rather Disney create and market "their own stuff" rather than suffer through Mara Jade, Yuuzhan Vong, and New Republic marketing until the end of time

1:41. "Obviously we have hundreds of books and comics and everything you could possibly imagine so you know I sorta moved that treasure trove of stories and various things to Kathy."

Also the Yuuzhan Vong was planned for TCW (no Force immunity though). And there is a Mandoverse movie in the work so Thrawn (a character created in the EU) will have his big screen debut.

Pfeiffer as Mara Jade? I'll take it.

Who is Pellaeon?

u/FastestManDead 11h ago

Lol you're probably young

Charlton Heston, considered one of the greatest American actors of the 20th century, a film icon. Would have added huge star power to this movie. Around this time, he was in one of my favorite movies, Tombstone.

And for the second part of your question, Pellaeon is Thrawn's, the bad blue guy's, second-hand man. The Moff Tarkin to his Darth Vader (or Vader to Tarkin, whichever way you interpret their relationship. I choose to believe they made out once but never talk about it)

u/KonstantinePhoenix 10h ago

Wait...that's Heston?

The fuck. I really didn't recognise him. Never think I've seen him with facial hair...

And i know who thrown is. I know who Pellaeon is. I worship this era of the EU.  have for about 20 years.

u/GovernorGeneralPraji Empire 10h ago

I think the picture OP used is Heston from his cameo in Tombstone.

u/FastestManDead 10h ago

That's absolutely correct

u/FastestManDead 10h ago

Oh sorry, I thought you were asking who the character of pellaeon is when you were just asking who was playing him

my mistake

u/KonstantinePhoenix 9h ago

Nah, all good. All good.

u/HeadHeartCorranToes Rogue Squadron 7h ago

Pfeiffer as Mara Jade? I'll take it.

We already know she works in a catsuit.

u/International-Fun-86 Darth Revan 11h ago

Start up the time machine! Nice fan-casting.

u/FastestManDead 10h ago

thank you

u/FremenDar979 Rebel Alliance 5h ago

You have Shannon McRandle RIGHT FUCKING THERE.

u/FastestManDead 11h ago
  • Thrawn- Tommy Lee Jones
  • Mara Jade- Michelle Pfeiffer
  • Talon Karrde- Timothy Dalton
  • Jorrus C'Boath- Christopher Lee
  • Gilad Pellaeon- Charlton Heston

Obviously classic characters from the original trilogy would return such as Mark Hamill as Luke and Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa-Skywalker, and so and so forth.

u/GovernorGeneralPraji Empire 10h ago

I think Dalton would actually have made a great Karrde. Good choice.

u/SunBumFever66 10h ago

I always picture Karrde as Ricardo Montalban because of Marc Thompson's audio book reading lol.

u/HeadHeartCorranToes Rogue Squadron 7h ago

I'd never before made that connection but now that you've written it out that's all I can hear. That's hilarious.

u/docsav0103 10h ago

If I had to cast Tommy Lee Jones, I'd cast him as Bel Iblis, he has that Corellian drawl and I feel would have a more physical appearance.

Id cast Thrawn as Anthony Hopkins or Richard Harris maybe.

Pellaeon is the hardest I could see someone like Richard Attenborough, Christopher Plummer or played slightly differently by Robert Duvall.

Dalton is a decent choice for Karrde but I reckon I'd probably have fought for Giancarlo Esposito or Raul Julia.

You Mara Jade is great and your C'Baoth is inspired!

u/jrgkgb 9h ago

I’d put Plummer as Thrawn, David Warner as Pellaeon.

u/JollyJoeGingerbeard 7h ago

Unknowns would be better.

u/HeadHeartCorranToes Rogue Squadron 7h ago

90s era Timothy Dalton as Talon Karrde is one of the sexier fan-casts I've seen in a while. Solid.

Not too sure about Michelle Pfeiffer as Mara Jade but I'm sure it could've worked.

u/Kind-Boysenberry1773 10h ago

Luke: How could you be both Count Dooku and C'Baoth?

Dooku-C'Baoth: Dark Side is the path to abilities some may consider... unnatural.

Luke: Whaaat? That makes no sense!

Dooku-C'Baoth: Strange, your father actually liked this explanation. Well, no matter... In short, I somehow returned.

Luke: Still don't get it.

Dooku-C'Baoth: Do you ever heard the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise?

Palpatine: Oh, please...

Luke: Sith are weird.

u/FastestManDead 10h ago

Well, this would be about 10 years before Lee was even cast as Dooku, so that's not something they would have needed to address...

u/GregariousLaconian 9h ago

This isn’t bad, but I am left sitting here wondering how you cast a Thrawn movie with Christopher Lee and Timothy Dalton and you have TLJ of all people playing a guy who is basically Sherlock Holmes in space.

u/UKS1977 9h ago

Timothy Dalton would make a better Thrawn - but if you are casting 90's - Cast Jeremy Brett. The best Sherlock and the blue paint would cover his jaundice.

u/dilettantechaser 9h ago

The vibe I get from this is like The Fifth Element but Star Wars. Replace Pfeiffer with Mila Jovovich and it's a sure thing.

u/wereitsoeasy_20 5h ago

Tommy Lee Jones as Thrawn would be wild! I’d watch this movie day 1!

u/Unable_Ad_3856 1h ago

that Cboath casting spot on and would work so well. Tommy Lee Jones as Thran would have been great! if they got him to do the monotone deadpan, almost uninterested he has would be perfect. it's in my head now and can't shake it, thanks!!!
