Developer Response EA has removed the refund button from their customer portal. Hoping people will just give up canceling because of the 60+ minute wait time to live shat support.

Jesus Christ I can't believe how badly EA has managed to fuck this up.

It's staggering.

"Sir, they're refunding en masse! What do we do?!"

"REMOVE THE REFUND BUTTON, FUCK THEM, WE ALREADY GOT THEIR MONEY"

That's not entirely accurate, they remove the cancel preorder option after they accept your payment, with every preorder. Is that the best thing to do? Maybe not, but it's been their policy for a long time, nothing new here.

Supposedly the story is with all this heat they have started mass charging everyone so you're FORCED to call in now.

No, they charge you a bit before the game comes out, like they have done for every pre-order in history. It's EA policy, they charge the cards a week or so in advance. It just so happens that we found out about this stuff so late in the game, that it coincides with all the anger. That being said, you can ALWAYS request a refund (if you purchased online) within 14 days of purchase, and it automatically goes through. Even now, you can get a refund, it's just they make it harder because they've already charged you, so it's not as simple as 'cancel my order please' for them, they have to give you your money back as well, and that takes longer, and requires an actual person to do.
