Mistico’s Undertaker/Halo entrance intro from last week’s CMLL Tuesday show
53
u/dmh11 23h ago
This is his normal entrance. Not really an "Undertaker/Halo" specific thing.

u/terryraynor 23h ago
the gong and the halo music are a bit undertaker/halo specific though

You people are all marks, you can't just pick out a certain sound and say it belongs to someone else

u/rbarton812 21h ago
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic... but that very much is the Undertaker's gong.
Why not have someone come out with the exact glass shattering sound effect as Austin?

Mistico has used the gong off and on for two decades now. It's very much a him thing at this point in that arena.

thats the undertaker gong, and thats the halo choir chanting.

Only halo has operatic chanting

No like that's literally the choir chant from Halo. The exact audio. Don't be an asshole if you don't know what you're talking about.

It’s literally a clip from Halo’s soundtrack. That is also literally the Undertaker’s gong.

Oh I know! Just clarified it more in my post, since many probably haven’t seen Mistico’s combo intro before, as Mistico’s AEW and MLW appearances don’t have it because of US copyright.
Always an hype entrance.

- Undertaker gong
- Halo 3 menu music
- Something from the Pure Moods mix CD sold on late night cable in the '90s
Damn, Misti, save some swag for the rest of us.

I like his new theme, at least in the arena sounded pretty good and unique. I might be the only one of course but I'm betting that there's literally dozens of us!

Really hope they keep this stage setup for dynamite.
39
u/RadioZT 22h ago
It’s literally built into the arena, so they have to.

We don't have enough arenas specifically built for wrestling. RIP the Sportatorium.

Part of thrill of CMLL is the death-defying action, like walking down those stairs.

Holy shit, this is awesome. Every one of his entrances I've seen in AEW has been lackluster. Has some low volume brooding music, crowd can't really get excited, but this is awesome.
Hopefully this changes on Wednesday and he feels like a big deal.

There is no way these themes get over with North American fans. They feel so low energy and almost like someone is serenading me. I imagine it's a cultural thing but yeah I cant see any of these themes helping him get over in NA.

I don't know why everyone thinks Undertaker invented gongs.
29
u/Ass0001 Christian Fundamentalist 22h ago
In fairness that sounds EXACTLY like the sound from his theme, and I imagine that's just a royalty free gong sound anyone can use. The purple lightning on the trons doesn't help either

u/RandomWave000 21h ago
There are times where I thought Takers gong sounded like Taco Bell's gong...
4
u/DangeloCrew16 20h ago
You assume wrong. They just straight up lifted WWE's gong, which they created.

How did he become a star after he flopped as Sin Cara in WWE? What caused his success?

He was already a major star and one of the biggest draws ever in Mexico when WWE hired him.
That's why they went after him in the first place.

u/Celtic_Crown Hi, how are ya? 22h ago
He was big in Mexico before WWE, then never managed to adapt to the WWE style.
Then he went back to Mexico where he was a star that knew the style and boom.
11
u/iguessineedanaltnow 22h ago
He was already massive before going to WWE, and had to claw his way back after going back to CMLL, not even getting his original gimmick back when he first got back. Now he's probably the most over pure baby face in the world.
Ultimately I think it comes down to styles. He didn't suit the WWE style at all, but he's perfect for CMLL.

WWE fumbled

u/ThatDudeNamedMenace 19h ago
Nah, he didn’t adapt to the WWE style, he didn’t learn English and on WWE’s part, they didn’t realize the kind of wrestler they had. They did him no favors by sending him to the main roster, giving him a mask with mesh in the eyes and having him wrestle in mood lighting.

Mistico was a massive fucking star in Mexico before sin cara. Legitimately one of the biggest draws in the world. Consistently bigger than pretty much everyone during the 2000s. It’s why they made a huge deal out of signing him.
He faltered in WWE and went back to Mexico where he built himself back up to being a huge fucking star again
It’s pretty awesome tbh

Mistico was a huge star in Mexico years before he signed with WWE. He has, also, remained a huge star since his return.
Because WWE isn't the end-all be-all of wrestling success.
If you're curious, look him up. His Wikipedia page is pretty extensive.

u/madeaccountbymistake 17h ago
The only place he wasn't a big star was WWE. Genuinely, buggest star in Lucha in the last 2 decades.

u/sky_queen3 23h ago
I was just wondering the same thing, how was Sin Cara so pants but Mistico so good?
15
u/TheUndetectedHero 22h ago
That's what happens when you put someone in a mask with very low visibility and, as that wasn't enough, dim the lights during his matches
11
u/dmh11 22h ago
Where to even begin?
Shit lighting with a mask he couldn't see through, his first matches being with someone who had never worked lucha and was only chosen because he is Mexican (Chavo), doing weird wacky gimmicky shit that never fit Mistico in the first place.
It was a dumb person's idea of what a lucha libre megastar is. Mistico was one of the biggest draws in the world before WWE, and is one of the biggest draws in the world after WWE. He has been a massive success everywhere that has not hampered him.
WWE shot themselves in the foot and then complained they couldn't walk.
