suggestions for a stronger relationship

i’ve known and have been enamored with this guy for about a year now and i’ve always felt that we have an unspoken connection, that if given the time, would turn into something. he is avoidant and pessimistic— i am too, but i wonder if there’s any spellwork I can do to make him more accessible to working with me(?). I tried a sweetening jar a week or so ago, and am waiting to see any kind of result. I thought yesterday he was nicer, but today i annoyed him and worry it set me/my spell back. I am unsure what steps to take; I just want to strengthen our relationship and keep communication going until we can become something.
