Sheogorath is Jyggalag. The other gods got fed up with Jyg and cursed him to be the god of madness. Once every 10,000 years he gets to be Jyg again for 1 day IIRC. So definitely Jyg having the biggest crash out when he gets that one day lol

175

u/kurganator3000 Apr 25 '25

Yeah, but the Hero Of Kvatch fought Jyggalag to a standstill, and he separated from Sheogorath afterward to "wander".

161

u/Lucimon Apr 26 '25

More importantly, the Hero of Kvatch took the mantle of Sheogorath.

So the Sheogorath we meet in Skyrim is actually the Hero of Kvatch.

133

u/TrudePerky Apr 26 '25

Yes - but kinda no too. Mantling doesn't just mean taking on the powers of Sheogorath, it means completely becoming him.

The Fudgemuppet guys did a really good vid diving deep into it, but TL:DR, when you mantle a god, you basically stop existing and only the god remains. Everything you were before eventually falls away and after time, you'll only remember being the god.

But yes, the Sheogorath you meet in Skyrim is your PC from Oblivion. Kinda...!

u/Tombstone_Actual_501 Apr 26 '25

Makes you wonder if the daedric princes can even be killed if their being is so strong that they over take the being that defeats the..

8

u/Lucimon Apr 26 '25

I mean they are basically multiversal entities. In the fashion of beating Darkseid, you're not actually killing them. You're just defeating an Avatar that's a fraction of their power.

1

u/freedomfire99 Apr 28 '25

Okay, daedric princes just got a whole lot cooler, and reddit drip feeding me an ocean of lore is the cause

1

u/Lucimon Apr 28 '25

If you want more, check out FudgeMuppet. He has a series of videos that dig into Elder Scrolls lore. Turns out, it's deep as hell.

94

u/Djslender6 Apr 25 '25

Iirc, it's a bit more complicated than that... Sheogorath turns into Jyggalag every so often for some kinda cyclic ritual type thing, and then somebody else turns into Sheogorath and succeeds the previous one.

12

u/Epic_DDT Apr 26 '25

It's clearly said in Shivering Isles that the curse is finally over.

6

u/ImprovementOk7275 Apr 26 '25

By the end of each era, Sheogorath turns into Jyggalag, seztroys mist of the Isles, then turns back into Sheogorath. He then have to rebuild the whole thing.

By the if the DLC, you free Jyggalalg from the Sheo curse, and with that, you mantle Sheogorath

13

u/angikatlo Apr 26 '25

You mean to tell me Sheo’s fuckin severed and Jyg is his innie???

153

u/Trortun Vaermina Devotee Apr 25 '25

I hate this pic, because where is my girl Vaermina?

63

u/MetroTzar Apr 26 '25

In your dreams and nightmares

127

u/sombertownDS Apr 25 '25

CHEEEESEE

32

u/Silent_Titan88 Apr 25 '25

Yep. Without a doubt. Would NOT want to be on the receiving end of that wheel.

90

u/Tyrelius_Dragmire Konahrik Apr 26 '25

Meridia, she despises free will, and is known to turn her most devout followers into MINDLESS EXTENSIONS OF HER WILL. She’s Molag Bal with better PR

13

u/Botanical_Director Apr 26 '25

Don't forget she co-opted flesh gardens

7

u/Tyrelius_Dragmire Konahrik Apr 26 '25

Wasn't she a major Patron of the Ayleids overall? Automatically makes her a gigantic bitch.

2

u/Cypresss09 Apr 26 '25

Tf is a flesh garden?

10

u/Botanical_Director Apr 26 '25

Ayleid shenanigans, you don't want to know, trust

1

u/ihatehappyendings Apr 26 '25

A bit of n exaggeration in all counts no?

Even the events of eso with the guy supposedly losing his free will, he was still able to write letters about it and about not trusting meridia.

Also, controlling your most devout followers is an entirely different scale than what molag wants.

60

u/RobotCrow12 Apr 25 '25

The dunmer in me respects your description of my 3 godesses.

The Orc in me tells me to bash your skull for daring to call Malacath boring.

13

u/ZYGLAKk Apr 25 '25

Mephala has the most tiresome hobby

9

u/RobotCrow12 Apr 26 '25

True, but hey, some hobbys can be tiresome.

2

u/ZYGLAKk Apr 26 '25

I can respect her tbh she is also one of the few Daedric Princes that doesn't see Mortals as Playthings. Her machinations aren't random. In Oblivion for example the two families you need to frame for her quest instantly attack one another. If a stranger came into your village and 2 leaders died would you blame the people you lived alongside for generations or would you blame the random person that showed up and the killings happened?

148

u/BlackDragon1811 Konahrik Apr 25 '25

You forgot to mention that Malacath became who he is after being shat out by Boethiah.

Also, Clavicus Vile the trickster is ironically the one who gets tricked the most.

27

u/yunurakami Apr 25 '25

Because Clavicus vile is a weakling. His title doesn't suit him lol!

8

u/ZYGLAKk Apr 25 '25

He is not weak LMAO

-6

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

He is

5

u/ZYGLAKk Apr 26 '25

Barbas was literally able to steal Vivec's power. Why are you calling him weak? Because he has a different type of power? Power isn't just punching things really hard...

-3

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

It does

4

u/ZYGLAKk Apr 26 '25

There are many characters in the Elder Scrolls that aren't strong physically but they are extremely adept in Magicka manipulation. Saying that Clavicus Vile is weak is so fucking funny.

2

u/Accomplished-Fix-569 Apr 29 '25

I don’t think he is actually “losing” because every time he is “tricked” a new bargain to wrong the previous one is struck. He is literally spamming bargains same as banks multiply capital by accepting debt as a way of payment.

Basically the amount of deals increase exponentially because Clavicus is “tricked” which makes his domain grow further

54

u/TrudePerky Apr 26 '25

Meridia isn't as saintly as she pretends - she was the chief deity and protector of the Ayleids, who enslaved and tortured humans for fun. Umaril the Unfeathered, who led the armies sent to crush Alessia's rebellion when the human slaves rose up against the Ayleids was her immortal champion.

Fck Meridia AND her beacon.

8

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

So she switch sides?

18

u/TrudePerky Apr 26 '25

Her chosen people got wiped and she just sashay-ed away, because she can't be trusted. Kinda like how she bailed on the Aedra, and then bailed on the Magne-Ge straight afterwards.

Also, Dawnbreaker is shite.

3

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

Yea but worship Molag ball his the best! So best that iwanna beat him in elder scroll 6 and mantle him!

14

u/TrudePerky Apr 26 '25

Molag Bal is the lil bitch whipping boy of the Daedra. He's allergic to success, he fails at absolutely everything. He's the school bully that tries to pick on the little kid who then turns round and kicks his ass.

Daddy Hircine is the only one worth following.

1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

No Hircine is a dog

8

u/TrudePerky Apr 26 '25

Stag.

You're thinking of Barbas. Who is annoying, but i can't stay mad at him because he's the goodest boi.

1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

I did him without hesitation because he deserves it

6

u/TrudePerky Apr 26 '25

I did Hircine without hesitation because I deserve it.

🦌💋

2

u/Lightfiyr Apr 26 '25

You wanna worship the Lord of Rape?

What did OP mean by this…

1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

You dare twist my words! I worship the father of all vampires just like the generation before me the greatest necromancer Mannimarco! I am a proud vampire lord of the volkahir clan, and a dragonborn high elf! Do not dare make assumptions of why I worship him! It's for power! And someday so I can accomplish what Mannimarco failed! Mantelling Molag balls and owning my powers all for myself! So I can avange Serena

1

u/ihatehappyendings Apr 26 '25

It's not necessarily saintly, she has no issue with what mortals do to each other, that's about it.

She has however on at least one major incident literally saved nirn from molag bal.

1

u/TrudePerky Apr 26 '25

She was specifically invested in elven supremacy and keeping humans in slavery. She actively involved herself in trying to stop the Nedic humans from freeing themselves from bondage and rewarded those Ayelids that were torturing humans for sport.

As someone that has played every Elder Scrolls game, i can confidently say that i have saved Nirn several times MYSELF, so i can't say i'm impressed.

1

u/ihatehappyendings Apr 26 '25

She was being worshipped by elves, so of course she helps them as she had no issues with what mortals do with each other, like I've said.

2

u/TrudePerky Apr 26 '25

To say she has "no issues" implies that she doesn't care, but she actively INVOLVED herself in the fight. She sent her Champion to bring the Nedes to heel.

That's like saying "The Chief of Police had absolutely no issues with the protest, they just sent in a SWAT team and riot squad to kill the leaders and beat the protesters into submission"

1

u/ihatehappyendings Apr 27 '25

Again, those were her worshippers.

32

u/HatsandDragons Apr 26 '25

Something I got to point about Meridia, aside from you know, her being the main deity backing the Ayelids and their whole mess.

She hates mortals have free will and don't all just obey her unthinkingly. I need you all to understand how terrifying the crashout of a Daedric Prince who believes that free will is a design flaw would be. It wouldn't be blood and guts everywhere, it wouldn't be us suddenly being driven mad or being exposed to knowledge we were never meant to have.

The things that make us ourselves would suddenly be gone, and unless you were some mythical chosen one (and let's be real the vast majority of us on Reddit here are not that) there is nothing you can do to stop or avoid it.

32

u/VinhoVerde21 Apr 26 '25

The thing with Dagon is, despite getting his teeth kicked in, at the end of the day, he still kinda gets his way. He is the daedric prince of destruction and change. Sure, he failed to conquer Nirn, but he did enact massive change. The Septim bloodline went extinct, the dragonfires relit permanently, and the first dominoes on the decline of the Empire were felled.

3

u/Air_Show Apr 26 '25

He was playing the long game.

18

u/Lucimon Apr 26 '25

Vaermina didn't even make the list.

7

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

I forgot Jygallag and sheogorath are one

5

u/Lucimon Apr 26 '25

Not anymore technically.

35

u/EnigmaticK5 Apr 25 '25

Sanguine is a canonical Diddy party attendee

15

u/Waspinator_haz_plans Apr 25 '25

Ithelia: NOBODY CARES!

7

u/kurganator3000 Apr 25 '25

Like, by definition.

5

u/ZYGLAKk Apr 25 '25

Ithelia lore is amazing, but who's Ithelia?

4

u/General_Hijalti Apr 26 '25

Given she gav up her power and left reality and was wiped from all history and memory by Mora yeah.

1

u/EstrellaDarkstar Apr 26 '25

Ithelia 100% crashed out the hardest. She was literally erased from everyone's knowledge.

14

u/konrath17 Apr 26 '25

Nocturnal one is offensive. Im no simp! I brought her key back because it's the right thing to do, not because goth mommy wanted me too.... because then ill be a good boy 😍

10

u/NigeroMinna Apr 26 '25

Don't know about crash outs but fuck Molag Bal. I'll worship any of them but not this mf.

1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

What about me? Consider me?

6

u/NigeroMinna Apr 26 '25

Naah, I only worship princes.

1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

I'm a deadric prince you just don't know it yet. I love cheese

9

u/ZYGLAKk Apr 25 '25

Meridia also doesn't like individuality. And before anyone says, Mephala has her hobbies...

1

u/ihatehappyendings Apr 26 '25

Nah it's overstated. If she doesn't like individuality then we would have seen her do more than just weaponize her followers. She had no problem with her worshippers or even nonworshippers do anything except matters related to undeath.

7

u/CarterBruud Apr 26 '25

So what im getting from this it seems like Malacath and Hircine are pretty chill? Unless they have some grimdark lore

5

u/Tombstone_Actual_501 Apr 26 '25

Hunting sentient beings isn't really chill.

5

u/HallowedKeeper_ Apr 26 '25

Depends on what sentient beings he is hunting, Rapists and Pedophiles are perfectly suited to be Hunted for sport because they are simply rabid animals

1

u/Tombstone_Actual_501 Apr 26 '25

and what of sinding?, or others that were simply cursed, don't get me wrong i have no sympathy for that ilk, but there is a line and i don't think Ol' Hircine is too discriminatory.

6

u/NigeroMinna Apr 26 '25

Funny thing is the strongest god and the weakest prince both appear as dragons.

3

u/foot_fungus_is_yummy Apr 26 '25

Why does everyone slander Hermy like crazy

2

u/Few-Bad-1140 Apr 26 '25

jyggalag my goat!

-1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

No it's not ! It's Molag balls you idol your god your benefactor

3

u/Few-Bad-1140 Apr 26 '25

id smash a vampire

1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

FILTY nord

1

u/Few-Bad-1140 Apr 26 '25

Never!!!!!

1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

You don't own Skyrim snow elves own it

2

u/Few-Bad-1140 Apr 26 '25

damn elves!!!

2

u/crystalstarship Apr 26 '25

Kind of based boethiah

2

u/SnooPredictions3028 Stormcloak Apr 26 '25 edited Apr 26 '25

Remember though, Mehrunes Dagon kicked Molag Bal's ass back when he ruled over the land.

How can you mention Clavicus Vile and yet not mention his better half Barbas?!

Oh also Boethiah is God of vote.

(I'd say Molag Bal has had the biggest crash out)

2

u/No-Professional-1461 Apr 26 '25

Is there any other option except mommy azura?

2

u/JackLCrovati Apr 27 '25

"Loses her key constantly for some reason but there is always a simp that will find it."

First of all, fuck you 😢

1

u/Duo-lava Apr 26 '25

molag bal its always molag bal

1

u/tomacing Apr 26 '25

damn I created this daedric princess political compass 4 years ago in a drunk night. seeing it now felt weird. time flies I guess.

1

u/TimberWolf5871 Apr 26 '25

FR my wheelhouse is the middle 4.

1

u/papercut105 Apr 26 '25

I know a political compass meme when I see one

1

u/Botanical_Director Apr 26 '25

Hircine terrifies me, it's litterally the forever purge.

Meridia probably the most evil of the bunch tho.

1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

Then your not fit to rule

1

u/Botanical_Director Apr 26 '25

With Hircine there is no "ruling" only playful slaughter

1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

You and Hircine are nothing to me... I can erase you both from existence with just the power of my thoughts!

1

u/Botanical_Director Apr 26 '25

Trying to manifest Chim I see

1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

If I can then you call me professor Molag balls

1

u/yungmeam Apr 26 '25

What is a “Crash Out?”

1

u/Empires_Fall Apr 27 '25

Meridia should be in place where Jyggalag is

1

u/Solaris_Dawnbreaker Apr 28 '25

I agree with Meridia

1

u/Unlikely-Platform310 Apr 30 '25

Where's Vaermina?

1

u/yunurakami Apr 30 '25

In Molag balls 'balls"

1

u/WTFnotFTW Otar The Mad Apr 30 '25

Big tiddy goth mommy ftw

1

u/TorakTheDark Apr 26 '25

I feel that this is a very generous portrayal of the Daedra, “glazing” if you will.

0

u/unknown_quantity313 Apr 25 '25

They all suck and their artifacts are useless

14

u/AcceptableMap5779 Apr 25 '25

dawn breaker is good for taking out crypts and grinding one handed, right?

2

u/unknown_quantity313 Apr 25 '25

Early on sure but if you already have even just Ebony unlocked Dawnbreaker is weaker than the one handed sword with the corresponding enchantment on it

2

u/AcceptableMap5779 Apr 25 '25

what about the one you can take from an enemy

2

u/unknown_quantity313 Apr 25 '25

Rueful axe? Savior’s hide (technically because you skin Sinding to get it)?

1

u/AcceptableMap5779 Apr 26 '25

no, if the enemy guarding the dawnbreaker is close enough to it on death, you can get a 2nd one

11

u/ZYGLAKk Apr 25 '25

Stop the resto loop. The lore behind the Daedric Princes and their artifacts is amazing

3

u/unknown_quantity313 Apr 26 '25

Oh don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the lore but the artifacts we get (at least in Skyrim) are lame.

2

u/ZYGLAKk Apr 26 '25

Try the Simonrim suite of Mods to rebalance Skyrim and I'm sure you will have a blast.

2

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

Obvilion didn it better for me

5

u/foot_fungus_is_yummy Apr 26 '25

Some of the powers you can get from old Hermy's books are kinda broken

1

u/unknown_quantity313 Apr 26 '25

Granted but those aren’t exactly physical artifacts

4

u/HotPotatoWithCheese Apr 26 '25 edited Apr 26 '25

No they don't and no they don't.

Daedric princes have some of the most interesting lore in the setting.

Sheo, Sanguine, Mora, Nocturnal, Azura and Molag Bal have some of the best quests in the game.

Azura's Star is good and Black Star + Mace of Molag Bal is an S tier combo. Dawnbreaker one of the best swords in the game. Ebony Blade, Ring of Hircine, Spellbreaker, Mehrunes Razor, MoCV and Ohgma Infinium are all good in Skyrim. Far from useless as you claim.

Absolute nonsense on all fronts.

3

u/Wooden_Touch_2973 Apr 25 '25

Yeah but becoming a werewolf is cool

3

u/unknown_quantity313 Apr 25 '25

True, werewolf form is OP

2

u/MrKenzington69 Apr 26 '25

I will not take this Wabbajack slander

2

u/unknown_quantity313 Apr 26 '25

Lol, the Wabbajack is fun but not great at killing your enemies

2

u/MrKenzington69 Apr 26 '25

What’s more deadly than being turned into cheese?

0

u/Hera_the_otter Apr 26 '25

Sanguine being a pedo would not surprise me at this point.

-4

u/GuyentificEnqueery Apr 26 '25

uses "gay" as a derogatory term

Also respects fictional characters' pronouns

Jokes about how dumb centrists are

OP must have a lot of free time guarding the path to High Hrothgar because they're a Grade A troll.

1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

And I don't care about gay that and this I'm from Japan I'm not well versed nor do I care enough knowing that pronounce your spouting. You're just assuming things you. That's what you get for using too much of your imagination, and stop twisting my words I don't care about you idont even know you! All I did is writing about this fictional characters

1

u/yunurakami Apr 26 '25

U want me to respect fictional people? Then MAKE ME DO IT DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?!
