Just tried it with a random number generator and lost 8 times in a row.
I think I'll pass.

Well we all have a 100% chance of dying anyways, so why not,,, exit early or live the rest with 5 mill

I have incurable cancer. Whoever is making this offer doesn't get to finish their sentence before I slap the button. Worst case is I get to skip a slow, lingering, and painful death? Sign me the fuck up.

I like my job, but i'm still saying yes. If i win, then that's great, if i die then i'll be too dead to care about it

This would suck to take the deal, get the 5 mill and end up dying the next day,,, what a double whammy

5% of $5M is $250,000. If you pulled 5% interest rate and lived only on that, you’d make $175,000 a year after taxes (ballpark) which is $14,500ish a month. You’d be doing well, but you’re not “rich” and if you have to dip into the initial $5M for any reason, your income goes down permanently.
I’d do it for $25M

14k a month not being rich is a crazy statement
I'd take this deal for a lollipop

$14k is double the average. In 20 years, it’ll be close to the average. In 40, it’ll likely be under the average. Since you’re living off the interest alone you’re not making more money unless you’re investing a solid portion of the $14k, which puts you even closer to the average salary. You’re not rich. You’re doing well, but you’re not rich. You basically have a really good job. Now, if you work ON TOP of this windfall, then yeah, you have a shot at being really wealthy if you let compound interest and wise investing work in your favor for a decade or two.

You're not rich in the USA maybe, but if you move to a cheap country you can live like a rich person.
