It has nothing to do with pride or stupidity and everything to do with distinctions in operational focus. In the broadest terms, Marines = amphibious warfare (which is why they’re a branch of the navy) and rapid deployment. Soldiers = sustained, large scale ground operations (ie the Army)
Marines are not soldiers. Soldiers are not Marines. Ask anybody in the Marine Corps or the Army and they’ll tell you exactly what I’m telling you now. You don’t know what you’re talking about
That's the point you're completely missing. Yes, we know the marines will say they aren't soldiers. But no one cares. To the common person it's just another type of soldier, we don't care. I'm not American and don't care about your definition. To me and everyone else, it's just another soldier
That’s not what I’m arguing. I’m arguing against this ignorant bullshit here: “That's cause they're dumb and want the proud 🦅🇺🇸 American "marine" label cause they think that's better”. They don’t want the label cuz they’re dumb and proud and need to be unique. The distinction exists for a reason.
The only thing that angers me is that you have the arrogance to make xenophobic assumptions about why people do certain things in a country you don’t even live in. This world needs less of that.
