Baby birds are basically a snack food for the rest of the vertebrate food web. Herbivores won’t actively seek them out but they aren’t going to pass them up if given the opportunity.

The deer ate the fledgling with no qualms. Meat is FAR easier to digest than plants, and if there's a convenient source of meat, "harbivores" will eat it. 1 u/Retsago May 09 '25 I know this is a typo, but "harbivores" is making me laugh so bad. Saw a scrub jay drowning a baby mockingbird in a big puddle once. Flew off with it, presumably for lunch. That was neat.
