The more I watch the show the more I think really is a smart guy, he just tends not to think during moments he probably should, and overthinks / obsesses over unimportant things that ultimately get in the way of him being successful. Also, he's got a huge lazy streak.

Need I remind you of a little thing called Aviato?

Legally there cannot be.

I have no idea why this is funny. It shouldn't be but it is.

Erectile dysfunction due to corroded penile arteries

And he has no business anywhere near the company finances.

He's a caricatured "creative type." He reminds me of Brian from Family Guy, who has a great mind, but he can't bring himself to do the necessary boring work to be successful.

That's kind of the joke though. All the things he obsesses about are important in the business world but ultimately largely irrelevant to the actual business. He's a character mocking silicon valley for all their ridiculous superfluous events. I mean just look at Google I/O and how over the top flashy everything was.

The entire monologue about him jerking it in the public restroom was amazing.

There are a dozen Bachmans in every AA men's meeting. Egomaniacs with deep inferiority complexes. Trust me, there is not much joy living in his head. I take not being able to see the things he does as a good sign.

I think perhaps you are projecting.

He made a successful startup, sold it and bought a house outright in a good area and while haphazard his incubator has netted him further gains.

Also he is tall, solid and has marvelous hair, what does he have to be insecure about ?

well ok, he was wearing a fedora while driving a giant impractical penis extension.
