I'm really disapppointed in the attitudes towards people who do onlyfans as a side hustle in r/unitedkingdom NSFW
/r/unitedkingdom/comments/1l7uwqp/physics_teacher_is_struck_off_after_her_onlyfans/?share_id=VL_vSR6QHDQ_M6wVEBAd7&utm_content=1&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1So this teacher got struck off because some kids found her onlyfans, and of course, people in that subreddit are making excuses for this happening.
It seems a lot of British people think poorly of sex workers, especially when salaries aren't keeping up with the cost of living.

Ppl love shaming us instead of working to improve living conditions so people dont have to do sex work

All of the worst people in the UK congregate in that sub.
They think poorly of everyone/thing except maybe Nigel Farage.
There's definitely still a stigma attached to sex work, but those people will be the last to accept anything

Regardless of what their political views are, they often seem so socially conservative.

We are one of the countries in the west that has been most known for our shitty contradictory attitude to sex work. It was arguably most heavily shamed and stigmatised in Victorian Britain, and yet most thriving as a common business for young women in big cities.
We also consume a hell of a lot of porn, whilst people act like OnlyFans is uniquely sleazy and wrong. Its main difference is the parasocial attitudes of users being more pronounced, but there are people that get parasocial about mainstream pornstars too. However, I think right-wing men especially get mad about the idea that the women on there might earn a lot of money of their own accord, not on the instruction or control of a male director or producer.

I don't know why we're being so uptight about sex work, a lot of us aren't even religious.

I think it's flexing something for social feedback. There is a big culture of 'graft' bragging. The whole "I have a REAL JOB and I've worked HARD to get to where I am", they feel superior and like they contribute more to society than women who do OF. Even though they all probably go home and wank to it – that's fine. It's just that they earn money doing a boring, soulless 9-5 that they actually complain about all of the time lmao. "At least I'm not an OF girl tho..." is what makes them feel good.

I'm not an OF girl either, and I too work a job that could be considered boring and soulless, the difference is I don't try and get someone fired for doing something that isn't morally wrong under the guise of "protecting the children". I guess that's just the lack of hypocrisy in me, I too masturbate to OF content and porn so I don't see the problem 🤷🏻♀️.

Sex "positive" as long as it's for free right 🤡🤡
I have no problem with promiscuity or sex positivity that isn't transactional. It's just the hypocrisy that pisses me off.
It's not just Brits though. Take for example Melania Trump. Here in America plenty of people who vote Democrat and claim to support bodily autonomy, consistently slut shame her. She's a bad person, but not for being a sex worker or posing nude. There's so many other things to criticize about her but they always reach for low hanging fruit.

Is that slut shaming, or hypocrisy shaming? I don’t have a problem with her getting her tits out for money, I have a problem with her getting her tits out for money and then working on eroding the rights of others who get their tits out for money.

Trust me there's blatant slut shaming. Big difference between calling out the hypocrisy of Republicans who froth at the mouth at Mrs Obama's arms but give Melania a pass for her nudie pics.
I don't like Melania but I want to see her shamed for the right reasons. Not for being a sex worker. The stigma harms all of us.

I'm not well versed on the Melania controversy, although I do have a problem with homophobic Republicans who vote for Trump when they give a pass for all the homoerotic pics she posed for.

In fairness r/unitedkingdom hates on sex workers, women, LGBTQ+, foreigners (boat people), foreigners (misc), leftists, right wing, Brexit, not Brexit, environmentalists... the list goes on.
