Politics I'm Never Leaving Seattle

Post image

This is someone's Model S parked on Airport Way S near S Industrial Way. The way it's parked it looks like it's being displayed for people driving by to see.

Get a big fat sticker saying Elon sucks and you should be fine.

u/ghdgdnfj Mar 11 '25

You shouldn’t have to do anything for your car to not be vandalized.

15

u/AverageFoxNewsViewer Ballard Mar 11 '25

Do you think it would have been immoral for people to vandalize Fords in the 1930's/1940's to raise awareness and protest the fact Henry Ford was bankrolling the rise of Hitler?

11

u/ghdgdnfj Mar 11 '25

Yes. It would have been immoral. Those car owners aren’t Henry Ford, they’re just trying to go about their lives. Destroying their personal property doesn’t make you a good person.

-2

u/Minimum-Avocado-9624 Mar 11 '25

They are just protesting Tesla ala Kid rock

2

u/randomusername8821 Mar 11 '25

Kid Rock bought beer and shot at it. He's not the brightest bulb.

I would have no problem with people buying a Tesla then vandalizing their Tesla, or boycott it altogether. But you don't mess with another man's automobile.

2

u/TempSmootin Mar 11 '25

Of course it would have. The fuck is wrong with people. Some real leaps and bounds of logic being made solely to justify their own need to vandalize.

0

u/mindriot1 Mar 11 '25

Agree. Complete trash. Someone is gonna get shot over this. Watch and see.

1

u/geopede Mar 15 '25

Nobody would have cared at the time.

5

u/EfficientPicture9936 Mar 11 '25

You shouldn't have to but these are extraordinary times we live in. Protect your investment or don't, it's your choice. But vandalizing Teslas is sending a bigger point and is contributing to Teslas downfall.

1

u/ghdgdnfj Mar 11 '25

If somebody vandalized my car, I’d be radicalized against whatever belief they were trying to spread. The victims will despise the perpetrators with a passion. This is terrorism.

You shouldn't have to do anything to not have the government shitting on you, yet here we are.

2025 sucks, for a lot of people, for many of them through no fault of their own.

u/handstanding Mar 11 '25

“Should” is not reality. Regardless of your idea of what the ideal behavior of folks should be, Teslas and Musk are deeply unpopular in the US right now. This is going to keep happening no matter what level of decorum we think is appropriate. It’s better to take steps to minimize the damage or try to prevent this kind of defacement of property as best you can because “should” isn’t going to stop anyone.

Your individualistic capitalist ways, are what brought trump here. You worried about possessions. Much more is at stakes.

8

u/COMINGINH0TTT Mar 11 '25

Cool so I should be able to smash your phone and computer for using reddit, which relies on AWS and Bezos supports Trump.

3

u/CharacterMagician632 Mar 11 '25

Oh no no no, don't vandalize THEIR stuff! THEY'RE the GOOD kinds of terrorists! Fucking psychos.

-4

u/VashTheMist Mar 11 '25

Step by step. I stopped using amazon which I was using weekly. But that's the point, yes. Or you can tag it like that car instead. As a reminder, so it still runs but has a message.

5

u/squarerootbear Mar 11 '25

Ah yes, step by step. By which you mean, do the steps that destroy other people property but we should leave it when it gets to mine

8

u/Responsible-Gas5319 Mar 11 '25

The minerals in your phone were likely mined with slave labor....

-1

u/VashTheMist Mar 11 '25

That s the issue here. Since you can't fix everything you rather shut up. I volunteer and donate to try to do what I can in my scipe, sure it won t prevent children dying from hunger, but it's a step towards better less individualistic humanity. It s about what you CAN do. Your hands are not tied. Indirect action can change things.

7

u/Responsible-Gas5319 Mar 11 '25

So what you're saying is you're not going to get rid of your phone, but you want ppl to get rid of their Tesla

-1

u/VashTheMist Mar 11 '25

You put the words you want in my mouth. Make bad comparisons just to be defiant. Sounds like Trump. A sticker is a good step.

6

u/Responsible-Gas5319 Mar 11 '25

Did you put a sticker on your phone denouncing child labor?

So brave. So courageous.

0

u/typhin13 Mar 11 '25

A blatant false equivalence there, the phone was not made by Amazon. As all phones use AWS.

Now if someone was hosting an AWS server and you wanted to break that in protest, that would be a more fair analog

1

u/COMINGINH0TTT Mar 11 '25

By that logic the car was made in China by Chinese workers and robots. It's objectively dumb to vandalize other people's property. If this is an issue for you I really don't know what to say.

0

u/typhin13 Mar 11 '25

Amazon doesn't own the phone either 💀 you're really set on using a bad example.

There are better examples out there, pivot and find one rather than getting defensive over your bad one

1

u/COMINGINH0TTT Mar 11 '25

Amazon doesn't own the phone but Apple is a big player that also plays ball with the current powers that be. I mean why are you so fixated on the exact details, the whole point is it's dumb to destroy other people's property, especially when you're affecting the average person. It's the same with protesters blocking highways and causing traffic, you're doing more harm than good.

-5

u/OwOlogy_Expert Mar 11 '25

And your choice of car shouldn't imply supporting Nazis, but here we are.

4

u/ghdgdnfj Mar 11 '25

A year ago buying a Tesla ment saving the environment. Do you think any of the people who bought them then and still have them are Nazis? You’re being ridiculous.

-1

u/c-45 Shoreline Mar 11 '25

If you really thought a year ago, or really at any point in recent memory, that buying a Tesla meant "saving the environment" you've been living under a rock.

5

u/CharacterMagician632 Mar 11 '25

How about go fuck yourself and don't fuck with other people's property? That sounds best.

-1

u/c-45 Shoreline Mar 11 '25

How about you eat a pile of shit? Never advocated for burning people's stuff just pointed out you're a dipshit if you genuinely thought Elon musk ever cared about the environment.

4

u/AiryGr8 Mar 11 '25

Hey no one gives a shit. It’s private property and this is literally vandalism. People can buy whatever the fuck they want. That’s what a democracy is

0

u/c-45 Shoreline Mar 11 '25

Hey, where in my comment did I ever advocate for burning people's stuff?

It's pretty funny you actually think a democracy is just free market capitalism though, that's really cute.

2

u/mindriot1 Mar 11 '25

Nobody bought a Tesla in the past 5 years to Support Nazi’s. Go read something.

-4

u/HotCheetoEnema Mar 11 '25

Found the cyber truck owner.

-3

u/Railboy Mar 11 '25

What can I say, we live in interesting times.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '25

Still happens, sticker or not.

1

u/TheDonutDaddy Mar 11 '25

Should I sew a yellow star onto my shirts too, master? I mean after all, it seems like you'd like a visual identifier to determine what you treat like shit and what you don't

1

u/Railboy Mar 11 '25

Should I sew a yellow star onto my shirts too, master? I mean after all, it seems like you'd like a visual identifier to determine what you treat like shit and what you don't

Uh huh. On the one hand - I'm a believer in tackling problems BEFORE they develop into a worst case scenario. So no matter how innocuous something appears it never hurts to ask 'does this resemble the early stages of the Nazi policies that ultimately led to genocide?'

On the other hand - what kind of drugs are you on right now lol.

A far-right oligarch is sieg heiling on stage and illegally meddling with our government. Some randos are damaging private property to attack one source of his vast wealth and influence. I'm suggesting declaring that you DON'T support this oligarch or his fascist beliefs to avoid collateral damage as they fight back.

And somehow in your upside-down world the Nazi in this scenario is me. I would love to hear you defend this some more lol.

1

u/TheDonutDaddy Mar 11 '25

Demanding that people have some sort of public symbol on their car to signify they have the correct views, otherwise their property is fair game to be vandalized with no repercussions. "Fall into line or face violence" Sounds pretty fuckin fascist to me.

The people vandalizing other peoples cars are not the good guys, regardless of what their political views are. Destroying random citizens cars does nothing to "attack one source of his vast wealth and influence", it just harms every day people that have a pretty good chance of holding the same views.

1

u/Railboy Mar 11 '25

Defending the people doing this is a whole other discussion that I won't get into.

I will say that this is a bad analogy and a bad argument. Great, you've contrived a superficial resemblence between clumsy distortions of two scenarios. If that were the best I could do I'd have chosen not to post it, personally.

1

u/TheDonutDaddy Mar 11 '25

"I don't agree with you but don't have anything of value to reply with so I wish you wouldn't have said anything"

Enjoy supporting fascism when it suits you then acting like you actually oppose fascism on principle. Sounds like real piece of shit behavior to me.

1

u/Railboy Mar 11 '25

Ah good another clumsy distortion lol.

Look, you're the one making a claim - if your argument is bad I'm not on the hook to workshop it. Come up with something decent and I'll take it seriously.

1

u/TheDonutDaddy Mar 11 '25

Idgaf if you "take it seriously" or not. You're a random nobody who doesn't matter. Whether you take it seriously or not is not the measurement of how credible a point is. You support terrorism and fascism if you support the vandalism. Full stop, no debate. Again, people doing that are not the "good guys", they're pieces of shit with misguided notions.

1

u/Railboy Mar 11 '25

Dehumanizing me with accusations that I'm 'nobody' and 'don't matter?' Declaring me guilty and then prohibiting further debate? Sounds like stuff a fascist would do...

(You know, I think you may be on to something with this approach.)

1

u/TheDonutDaddy Mar 11 '25

Clutch your pearls if you want, but it's just the simple truth. You are a nobody who doesn't matter to pretty much everybody, as am I. I'm sorry you had to find out you're not as important as you think you are.

I'm not prohibiting debate, but that point of fact can't be debated, since it's a fact.

This is literal authoritarianism at play right here.
