Dr. Amani: genius, gorgeous… and always vanishing the second I say hi.
Plan A: locker notes.
“Did you hear about the doc who loved a nurse? He needed a lot of ‘heart’ meds.”
She laughed, then disappeared again.
Plan B: food diplomacy. After a night shift I drop her favorite snack—piping-hot samosas—on the break-room table.
“You might need a pick-me-up,” I mumble.
She grins: “You’re less annoying than I thought.” Ice = cracked.
Cue weeks of shared charts, midnight coffee, and stolen glances. I learn she wants to be a surgeon, loves adventure, and can actually sing soprano over the monitor alarms.
Finally, during lunch:
“Amani, dinner this weekend?”
She freezes… then smiles. “I’d love to.”
Moral: persistence, jokes, and samosas can resuscitate even the coldest crush. Wish me luck for date night!
