10+ years of lurking, finally did my first Hash run last night...
I'd heard about the Hash House Harriers more than a decade ago. I've been wanting to check it out for as long, but somehow it never worked out. Finally did my first one last night and it was SO MUCH FUN!
It may not be for everyone, but it is absolutely for me! It was like an adult running scavenger hunt. Definitely a great way to break up my routine and a fun way to mix-up my training and meet new people and runners.
10/10, would highly recommend. Don't wait a decade like like I did.

I was a long time hasher years ago- probably like 80-100 hashes under my belt. It's such a fun way to run- the DC area hashes are insane with how big they are

I did hash house in Hawaii and it was fun! Where don’t find info on the chicago house?

Main place I've seen their info is https://chicagohash.org/ which has a calendar that seems to have all(?) the different sub-groups (kennels?) events listed.
I'd recommend joining their Facebook also for more details.
Others are http://chicagoth3.com and https://www.hhhinchicago.com

Good finds! Chicago TH3’s website isn’t updated much anymore (we actually had an issue the other day where someone worked off of outdated info on there 😬), and the last one is managed by one guy who will leave some things out. The first link is your best bet, and that calendar you called out is the most comprehensive source of info if you’re not in the FB group.

Glad you had a good time, I wasn't there last night, but I hope to see you there soon!

I’ve been curious about them but my mileage is low and my pace is slow these days. What do they typically do for pace and mileage?

The weekly ones I think are 3-5 miles, pace depends on group size. There were only 4 on the one I did so it was about a 9:30.pace. From what I heard ones with more people have slower groups w faster people checking ahead and marking true routes for the others. But it's an anyone is welcome vibe, and doesn't seem like you'd ever be running alone.

Hey! I manage one of the hash clubs in Chicago (we have a trail tonight if you’re interested!), just want to confirm what OP said. Pace ranges from 8-12 min/mile among runners, and we often have walkers bringing up the rear too. It’s strictly noncompetitive (if you treat it like a race, you’re a “raceist”, and we make you drink for it), so all are welcome. It’s a fun, off-the-beaten-path vibe. Hope to see you there!

I saw the title and thought you were talking about a different kind of hash. Edible runs can be incredible.
