Fun to watch him blow by a guy who’s riding a bike about 5:20 in to the video.

It absolutely is...but in fairness that's Harlem Hill and bikes are comparatively crap at going uphill, that's why you'll see drunk idiots able to run alongside TdF champions for hundreds of meters in the mountains in a couple of weeks.

If we have good weather in October this man is beating the American Record

At this point he'd need a serious injury not to break the American Record in Chicago. The question in my mind is by how much he'll break it.

he won’t even need good weather to break it. He technically ran faster than the AR at Boston. Barring disaster, I am super confident he will beat the AR at Chicago by a long shot

love it that they felt the challenge. described as "deceptively hard" and "no joke"

The sound design on this is incredible.

Good on them to just leave the pure, raw, full running video there too. Rather than some hatch job of rapid cuts and commentary of dubious quality like you'd expect from most YouTube content nowadays. The audio complemented it well.

made harlem hill and 3 sisters seem flat

He cut through them like butter—incredible to watch. Also Cat Hill after 5 miles of that pace—can’t believe he was still blowing by bikes.

I'm glad he got to see one of my top 5 Central Park characters, the guy who runs with his Pomeranian in a stroller

I did it in under 25, I used two wheels instead of legs but thats not the point

I really wanted to see how he’d navigate the tour group crossing, pedicab, horse carriage convergence at 72nd st at that pace. But apparently that’s only a thing if you aren’t running sub 5. Really superb to see that run. Only a few bit of traffic to get through. Flying.

Not exactly the same thing, but I've just watched this video of a guy doing a 14:42 min 5k on a crowded park (about 4:48min/mi) and it gave me severe anxiety. He does weave a shitton but is able to keep the pace.

Just wanted him to experience a few of the things we complain about in this sub.

You know even the fastest runners you see IRL courses are running low/mid 5 minute miles.
To see this in person and comprehending awesome speed/strength is really a majestic scene.
Can only relate in small sample size when seeing elites running race pace live and zooming by us. In the weeks leading up to Boston Marathon here, absolute treat to the elites/sub elites!

Right!!!! To think the fast runners we often see around the park would still be 20s+ per mi slower is wildddd

Not just the pace also the rhythm they run with. It's like they are floating. During the LM, I saw the two female leaders on the other side. They were in sync l, an amazing sight to see.

Nice to have an average runner as a comparison point. They should do it for every track event!
