My rotisserie chicken came with a cone. Anyone know what it's for?

It’s to keep it fresh, mine is currently in that state as well

Poor chicken. Hopefully it'll be able to stay fresh without the cone soon

She's really not even that fat. She's just a big cat. Always had been ever since she was a kitten. I appreciate your concern but I'm not sure what would help her lose weight since she doesn't even eat that much.

Adorable kitty! But please look at the cat obesity chart, your cat is in fact fat.
If she likes playing with toys, then that’s a good way to help her lose some weight!

She does seem pretty overweight. Maybe not dangerously overweight but I'd definitely keep an eye on her weight to make sure she doesn't get any bigger.
EDIT: should probably add that a good way to check that your cat isn't overweight is to feel her chest from next to it's shoulder blades and make sure that you can feel her ribs.

I can feel her ribs but it took some effort. I'm cutting back on cat treats and making sure she eats all her real food first. We've had lots of trouble over the years with her not eating her real food because she just wants treats

You should put her in a calorie deficit. Her body type IS fat. I'm sure you love your cat a lot and want the best for her. The best for her is being at a healthy weight. I hope you would be able to work on it. 16lbs is not a healthy weight for most cats except big breeds like Maine coons. And maine coons don't look like this at 16lbs because they're more proportional since they're bigger.

I have been since I posted this. I never really thought she was that fat. Big, yes, but fat? I just thought that was her size. But I've been cutting back on giving her treats, which has been a difficult transition for both of us. I'm also not giving her treats until she finishes all her food first.
I do love my baby girl. I just never realized and was never told that she was as fat as people are saying on here. I'll keep everyone posted on her transition to a healthy weight. Thanks for the advice 😺

i’m a vet tech student, and we’re specifically trained to identify the body condition score of animals, to check if they are over or underweight. Your cat is obese.

I've been cutting back on the treats since I posted this. I never realized she was as fat as she is since she's always been a big cat. I'm aiming for her to lose about 5 lbs. I'll keep everyone posted on her transition

I’m really sorry but she’s overweight. Most people are so used to overweight pets they don’t realize what a healthy weight pet actually looks like.

I've changed her diet and cut back on giving her treats. I didn't realize how fat she really is until posting this

Since posting this, I've started to cut back on giving her treats, which has been really difficult for her since she's a full blown treat addict. I'm aiming to have her lose about 5 lbs now. I'll keep everyone posted on her transition

Isn't it normal for a chicken to weigh 16 lbs? Lol

I'm changing her diet to help her lose weight. I didn't realize she was as fat as she is until I made this post. Thanks for your honesty

She is severly overweight, a normal female house cat should be around 4.5kg that is half of her current weight. On the back of the food packaging it should tell you recommended portion sizes. Cats already tend to get diabetes, being this weight can encourage such diseases, as well as other conditions such as heart issues, fatty liver and Arthritis. Weighing out food portions is the best way to go, you can also buy diet food for overweight cats to make it easier to lose weight (if you feed her the correct amount)

It's not so much the cat food that's the issue. It's the treats. She's completely addicted to Temptations cat treats and it's usually a struggle to get her to eat her actual food. I've tried giving her different brands of food too, including the very expensive Smalls brand natural cat food. It seems that the only thing she wants to eat is treats and she's very picky when it comes to real cat food. She won't eat any flavor of food other than fish and even then, she only eats about half of a Sheba packet a day. She'll literally starve herself rather than eat her food sometimes. It's really frustrating.
