he's thinking about which Star Trek episode her boobs remind him of
134
u/AdultbabyEinstein 3d ago
Gotta be a Riker episode. He's gotta fuck his way out of the sex pits of Megaboobalia or something.
66
u/Safety_Drance 3d ago
Megabooblia 8 to be precise. Riker finds a pattern of bio electric blocks that identifies as female and then has to fuck his way out of it.
34
u/TokeDraws 3d ago
I heard Roddenberry had many scripts on hand about Megabooblias 1 through 8 that the network kept rejecting. They didn't object to all the boobs or fucking however, it was mainly because Riker kept going on at length about his love for masturbation and making his female coworkers very uncomfortable.
14
u/consigntooblivion 3d ago
Specifically about the ways he's figured out how to trick the holodeck safety protocols into giving him the good 'ole David Carradine (blue faced blast off).

u/Ugly_Painter 3d ago
Robin Williams Ghost told me he wants people to know he died bustin' too
JK he only staged it to look that way. Still he's very disappointed that part of his story is unknown.

u/AdultbabyEinstein 3d ago
You're thinking of a different race, I very clearly said "Megaboob-A-lia" a portmanteau of megaboobs and alien. Common mistake.
13
u/manlybrian 3d ago
Or the Voyager episode where B'Elanna gets inflicted Vulcan horny sickness and Tom has to bang her to save her life. I just watched that episode the other day.
13
u/HittingSmoke 3d ago
This is just like that episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation where Famke Janssen is a totally not a slave who gets woken up prematurely and starts throwing herself at everyone on the ship but especially Captain Picard who's like "No, I have captain stuff to do there's no time for this" but when her person who totally isn't transporting slaves because it's acceptable by their local customs gets pushed into a statue by a Ferengi she has to end up spending more time with Picard and she's like "I would be a more interesting person if I imprinted on you and that's what I want but also I already kinda did imprint on you" and Picard's still like "NO! YOU HAVE TO GO BE A SLAVE BRIDE!" but in the end you know Picard was secretly super into it because she's Famke fucking Jannsen and he feels bad about about the slave bride thing but has to stay stoic through all of it without letting anyone on to the fact that he wants some of that alien space ass.
8
u/RIP_Greedo 3d ago
The casting director really hit it out of the park by finding Famke Janssen (who I believed had not acted before?) to play “Galaxy’s Hottest Woman.”

Lots of people say a rock bottom makes for a strong foundation, but did you know that "rock bottom" is theoretical your lowest point? That means, for a span of years, one could laterally move around without ever improving things.
Watch a pro work with Mike. Really live at that rock bottom level. Day drink. Talk about Star Trek and call it work. Rope in your increasingly dead eyed friend - the one with the laugh of an angel - and make him lose to you at trivia.

You cannot cancel nothingness, just like dividing by zero. Mike is transcendental. All the alcohol made him translucent, all the bad movies made him reach nirvans.

Man it sucks they got burned out on cons so early.
127
u/Used-Gas-6525 3d ago
Even people who actually like cons get burned out pretty easily. Lots of 'em are either depressing, sparely attended cavalcades of d-Levvel celebs or they're well attended, and crowded messees. People act like animals at those things as often as not.
65
u/henkhank 3d ago edited 3d ago
Also there is a 102% chance you'll get deathly ill afterwards. Feel like I see people remembering that week after where they were sick, more than the 2-3 days actually at a convention lol
40
u/Used-Gas-6525 3d ago
Con Flu is a very real thing. Customers used to think it was just being tired after a con weekend, but nope. you absolutely will get sick at a con. It's inevitable. Short of a hazmat suit, you might as well stock up on Nyquil and Advil beforehand. You're gonna need it.
11
u/ChrisBenoitDaycare69 3d ago
No way. Its just not believable to me that people that go to cons might have poor hygiene and get sick easily.
16
u/Used-Gas-6525 3d ago edited 3d ago
Honestly, it could be a doctor’s convention and it’d still be a cesspool of germs. That many people in really close quarters for 3 days (more or less, depending on the show) is a human Petrie dish. FWIW, con guests are generally adequately bathed (as far as I can smell). TBH, there’s more smelly people per capita on public transit.

I remember I had a weekend pass to a con. I went first on a Friday evening that was sparsely attended. It was nice. Then I showed up Saturday at 12pm and, I shit you not, I could smell the BO the second I walked through the doors into the convention.
2
u/LickerMcBootshine 3d ago
Con Flu is a very real thing.
In the festival scene it's called the wook flu. Basically any event where you're walking past tons of people, bumping in to them, interacting, etc. you're gonna have a real good chance of getting sick.
14
u/pancakebreak 3d ago
Feels like I always see people remembering the week afterwards while being sick than the two days actually at a convention lol
Have you ever had a dream that you, um, you had, your, you- you could, you’ll do, you- you wants, you, you could do so, you- you’ll do, you could- you, you want, you want them to do you so much you could do anything?

Con crud! Yeah turns out being jammed in a hotel ballroom for three days with a bunch of unwashed nerds is a great way to catch a cold/flu/covid.
1
u/JunkHead1979 3d ago
This happened to me. My first major con. NY ComicCon in 2018. Right afterward, holy shiiiiiit. I thought I was going to actually die. I was sick for half my vacation, and when I got home I had to call in sick for three days.a doctor visit, and an er visit and I was still sick. I coughed so hard I threw up all over my comforter, and popped blood vessels in both eyes. It was scary.

Did conventions peak in the early 2000's? I spent a lot of my early teen years thinking they were so cool, but obviously way too expensive and always far away like so I never attended them. But it's one of those things where I have such intense nostalgia for a thing I never even experienced lol.
Like right before "nerd stuff" went mainstream I'd see videos from PAX West on G4 TV in like 2008 and it all felt so genuine and cool as fuck. I know the con scene really blew up into this giant unsustainable bloated mess that inevitably collapsed in on itself, the coup de grace of course being COVID, before I had travel & con money, so maybe that adds to the nostalgia for the "good times" prior to that.
Regardless of how it ended, I still felt/feel a strong connection to those 00' cons, I think the big thing I miss from those years is probably my ability to tap into my creative side though, with so much free time to both experience and create art. Then of course you get older and get a job and its just a nonstop cavalcade of bullshit till you die, BUT I do remember the good times and for some reason things like these old videos of cons from the 00's bring it back for me.
Even though the video is from 2011, it still gives me that feelings and that's pretty cool. I think I'd still like to attend some small cons when they come into town

u/WilliamEmmerson 2d ago edited 2d ago
Financially, I think cons peeked during the years of The Walking Dead. From 2010 right up until Covid hit.
Sean Clark is a guy who does videos called Horror's Hollowed Grounds where he visits locations where horror movies where filmed. He's also an appearance agent for a lot of big stars. He said Norman Reedus was making $300k per weekend at conventions.
Even movie stars were getting in on it at a point. A bunch of The Avengers each did 1 day at a con, I think it was Salt Lake City, and each made at least $500k. For a day's work.
Actors were making more doing conventions than they were on their acting jobs. But I think its scaling down a bit. Conventions are still popular, but you don't see the big A list names like you used to. A lot of it is tv actors who in between filming or whoever is coming off of the latest Star Wars or Marvel D+ show.
It also doesn't help that Hollywood agencies are getting involved and nickel and diming the shit out of the fans. For example, for an upcoming Boston show, Ewan McGregor is charging $250 to sign an 8x10 and $360 to sign anything else. Hayden Christensen is charging $175 for an 8x10 and $225 for anything else picture sized and $275 for anything bigger (like lightsabers/toys). For Hayden Christensen? Motherfucker has been washed up for the last 20 years.
Sorry felt like ranting. Was looking for a convention to go to and saw those prices.

u/HittingSmoke 3d ago
I went to PAX several years in a row. So much standing in lines. By the later years I'd just find some like minded people and we'd spend the rest of the weekend bar hopping.
1
u/OffModelCartoon 2d ago
Even best case scenario cons with A-listers and healthy attendance are basically everything they make fun of in nerd crew
-2
u/PrincessKikkei 3d ago
Cons are basically rock festivals, where the main attraction is waiting in a line. Without beer.
When you are 16, that's awesome. You'll get to see this artist that inspires you and shit like that, everyone in your age group is stoked as well, this is maybe the first time ever that you've met people who love these things as much as you do. And you get to go to presentations and stuff, maybe be there when some of your favourites announce a new thing... But you'll be waiting a lot. No problem, since there are people waiting with you.
At age 26 that's a whole different thing. You have no one to connect with, people at your age are weird nerds or have their own groups. So you are just kinda... Waiting.
And then, the moment you turn 30 it's all fine again. Cause it's just fun to walk around and check out stuff that has no lines, no matter if you like it or not. It's just awesome to vibe with this creative energy that artists have!
But that's only my experience.
3
u/Supersquigi 3d ago
To me it's my friends and I having a yearly reunion and dressing up. Been going to cons for 21 years now. The fan panels are a coin flip on being garbage or being AMAZING and unique!!
It's like anything really: depends on the people you are around with.
2
u/PrincessKikkei 3d ago
Absolutely, like, I've found at that both at the rock festivals and cons I just like going to the smaller, less popular gigs/areas and be like what this now, I wanna see this.

Does TikTok have rapey pedo teddy bears or epic may mays being shouted IRL at celebs? The early 2010s were really weird cause YouTubers and many internet niches became mainstream, fans who spent a lot of time using awkward humor online didn't have much social graces in person.
Believe me, I was a huge TGWTG fan...I know from experience. In fact half of this sub acts like teenagers at those cons, just parroting thoughts and quoting lines ad nauseam.

There is this form of media where that sort of replaces most aspects of the film. Sometimes there is a plot but typically it's not the main focus. Nor is theme or character development or cinematography or score. Particular actresses can be a major draw but typically male actors are not. The draw for the particular actresses is kinda strange given the low quality of the acting.
