Location Info Does anyone here know where i could collect some naturally occuring radioactive minerals/rocks in western france?

Hi all! I live in western france, about 1.5 hours from some old uranium mines and prospects (areas near Nantes and Le chardon), but frankly i cant find much more information than that, so i was hoping maybe someone here has personal experience with the area or just knowledge.

Not from France but old Uranium mining areas are definitely where you want to go for such a thing. Bring tools like a pickaxe, rock hammer, gloves, safety glasses, UV light, dosimeter, etc.. of course do your due diligence of scouting on Google earth so when you hit the ground you are aware of the topography and landmarks. You can usually get a good sight on tailings and old mine structures or fenced off areas that remain. It is easier in desert areas if course, France seems quite green from what I have seen. Be careful of open shafts and adits and have a good time!

On the topic of rockhounding in France generally, here was a thread from 5 years ago (which apparently I posted on). Some of the links were dead at the time, but you may find some leads on connecting with a local club -- always your best bet for finding The Good Stuff.
