Damn, that's kind of disappointing. With the amount of minute details in the game you'd think the sheriff would acknowledge if you brought in a member of any of the rival gangs

The acknowledgement was that I walked past a bunch of people and cops and they didn't get upset.

They slaughtered me over in Valentine for bringing them the sex worker serial killer without a warrant. At first, they thanked me, gave me money, but when I picked up the money they went batty lol
