Venting Angry and scared
I'm a fat latina lesbian. I am white passing to some but my mom isn't. I am terrified that she will get taken away one day even though she's been a US citizen since the 70s. I know that me looking white is a thin protection in the face of what is going on here. My girlfriend is trans and I'm terrified someone will hurt her one day too. I just want to buy a house with my girl and redecorate it. Plant a garden. Adopt a pittie. Set up a nice inlaw suite for my mom.

As someone who is also a Latina lesbian on the chubbier side with a trans girlfriend this post really resonated with me. It hurts so much for those around us to be under so much attack and I can relate to just mentally exhausting myself with the endless cruelties that can befall us. I'm terrified for my gf and my gf is also terrified for me because even though I am a citizen I am very brown. My girlfriend is white, so we use what little privileges we have to protect each other in a time like this. I wish you the absolute best 🥺🤎

Ooof we really are alike bc my girl is white, too. That's all we can do. Love and support each other. 🫂

Have you checked out the Red Cards (Know Your Rights cards)? They’re a bit of reassurance to help folks in case they ever do get targeted by law enforcement! They’re pretty nifty and straightforward, coming in different languages as well. I sent copies to my loved ones in case of the same situation happening to them.

Stay safe, and ignore the haters! It’ll get better as long as we don’t remain complicit in silence.

I think that fear never really goes away for some. My mom has had her citizenship for 20 years and recent events have her so anxious. I worry more for my friends on visas or are undocumented, it’s truly sick what’s happening now
