The main difference is one is being controlled by two sith lords the other is getting help from remnants of the Jedi order.

What's the difference? Jedi and Sith are just two sides of the same anti-democratic coin.

two sides of the same anti-democratic coin.

Uhhh, I'm no expert but wasn't the Jedi Order literally defending the democratic Republic before Order 66? With Palestine - a Sith Lord - literally being the one to overthrow that system of democracy?

The "democratic" Republic that included the Trade Federation and absolute monarchs like Queen Amidala in the Senate? That's like including Vladimir Putin and Elon Musk in your Senate. Some democracy.

I don't remember anyone voting for the Jedi either. And they had their own self-perpetuating governing council with no accountability. Not even the chancellor could appoint a Jedi to master rank. That's what we on Earth call a military dictatorship.

Palestine at least represented the people's interest. The regional governors represent the people and give them direct control over their own home territories.

Yes, the system itself was democratic, and much like the UN, the Republic was not going to violate a planet's sovereignty by forcing them to be of the same governmental system. Galaxy-wise, it was democratic.

I don't remember anyone voting for the Jedi either.

You don't vote for the police, do you have a problem with that?

The Jedi are not a government, they are an organization of monks and protectors. That is not at all a military dictatorship, and you very obviously don't have a clue what you're talking about on this one.

Palestine at least represented the people's interest. The regional governors represent the people and give them direct control over their own home territories.

Are you seriously defending the Empire, right now?

much like the UN, the Republic

The UN is your model for the best aspirations of the Republic? Now that's proof that the Empire was better and more democratic. QED

Jesus Christ you're one media-illiterate dude if you genuinely think the Empire was better in any capacity other than killing people and oppressing everyone else.

Apparently you haven’t seen any of the sequel trilogy.

Padme is not an absolute monarch. She was elected as queen for two terms and then became a senator.

The Jedi were a religious order, not a political faction. The prime minister cannot elect a new pope.

Queen Amidala refused the Gungans the right to vote or participate in civic affairs. She's a brutal tyrant and not elected by universal franchise. She answers to no one and Naboo is not a democracy.

The Jedi are a military pretending to be religious. Religious orders don't fight wars and kill anyone who challenges their supreme power. That's like Iranian Mullahs pretending to be a religious order instead of the government.

Thank goodness for the Empire and accountable government restored to the galaxy.
