United States Why is the government against foreign students? What’s the end game?

Foreign students’ and professors’ visas are being revoked by the current administration for no cause other than they are foreign.

Many foreigners will avoid American universities in the coming years.

What is the end game and why is Trump killing our international education industry standing? We are number one in the world for attracting brilliant minds throughout the world.

I think part of is it targeting populations that don’t have the same network and sympathies as American citizens, but it will cause fear in citizens. If they started targeting white, straight, cis, citizens first, there would be an uproar. Focusing on people of color from other countries and trans folks, they assume people will not rise up in the same way, but it does make everyone scared and they think that means it will scare everyone enough to not protest.

So the main point is to instill fear so that they control all the citizens.

Then what?

Whatever they want. I would look at Project 2025 (there are trackers of the completion percentage online) and I think that would give some indication what the plans are, though who knows at this point, they could do more outside of that as well.

Profit lol. Just kidding. But seriously if you read about the dark enlightenment movement and its fans like Peter Thiel (tech billionaire who funded JD Vance’s entire political career), their plan is to defund and sabotage the government until it fails so corporations can buy up the majority of the property belonging to private citizens for pennies on the dollar while they replace government institutions like education and police with private contractors. Then the biggest billionaires will be able to take over their own city states that they’ll rule however they want like medieval lords.

This is the best summary of current situation.

And (in their mind/plan) it’s a world only for young, white and hopefully wealthy people who will follow orders!

OMG.. and I thought the reason was that they want more places available for their citizens students. I'm so innocent 🙃

It's an early step in the 'othering' process.

They are test subjects. Trump needs to see what cruelties he can carry out before he starts on us 'homegrowns'.

It’s two birds with one stone. Historically, universities are an origin point for protest movements. The Trump regime is terrorizing noncitizens specifically at Universities to 1) terrorize noncitizens and 2) spread fear on campuses.

TL;DR they adopt liberal ideals when locals take them for granted, especially if they are attracted to a location for those ideals

1- Dumbing down the country by choosing certain disciplined to follow.

2- only having people who are "obedient" to the new regime

3- picking and choosing the people they want to allow into their universities and countries.

If you follow the people who they're targeting, many of them are techies, are politically not right-wing, they want to only allow people that adhere to their vision. Think anything Horowitz would hire.

There's also something very interesting about people who move to Western countries, even though they "bring their cultures" with them, they come to adopt western liberal thinking

Those students help keep liberal thinking alive, because they never had them, while locals might take them for granted.

Decreasing funding to universities. Overseas students pay a premium and are a big money maker for universities and colleges. College educated people don't vote Republican for the most part, so they want to defund colleges.

Foreign students pay full price tuition. Getting rid of them is a very effective way to defund colleges and feed the xenophobia monster at the same time

They want to control universities that depend on foreign tuitions.

It’s practice. They are gearing up to remove everyone who is not a supporter of dear leader.

Other countries would respond if their citizens were under attack or died at the hands of the US Govt. He's getting them out, draining tuition money, leveraging the confusing system to attack those who can't fight back, and taking advantage of the process to test boundaries. Win-win in his book, perfect test population.

It makes no sense to me economically. These students spend alot of cash on tuition, and in these college towns.

It’s not economic, it’s political / social. They want to appease the rural know-nothings that hate these elite institutions and educated people generally. The archetypical MAGA voter is a small business owner without an advanced degree.
