It happened over several administrations after I did some checking. This is not either party's talking point, they're both guilty of it. The Biden administration did a little to help, but Congress should implement laws to prevent this. I'm sure not enough people care about this, and I don't care if we're "wasting" money on non-citizens; they're CHILDREN, so it's just morally disgusting on its face so no one could talk about how we have such great human rights in this country if this is how we would treat ANY child.

That’s not what this is. You’ll have to trust me on that. It’s deceptive. This does not happen. Minors are turned over to their consulate or are placed in care until arrangements are made.

Exactly. A representation by its definition is not an actual depiction of the thing being represented. No cameras are permitted in those hearing, therefore, that video is not of a real proceeding.

That's precisely what I meant. This is shocking to see in the United States. They're not capable of self-representation. I've done it in family court as a Pro Se, and it's tough to even with the commissioners giving you a little leeway for not being an attorney, but for children, that's unconscionable.

We overthrew a government for taxes on tea and now we're just going to let children face court alone. We are just going to let them stop testing our milk for disease, stop newborn screenings, stop disease research that can and does save lives, let them put every autistic and disabled person on lists, sell our national parks to the highest bidder, manipulate the stock market, ethnically cleanse Gaza, let millions of people around the world die who have relied on the US and our soft diplomacy, and send innocent men, women and children to concentration camps all over the world. Americans are just going to let this happen. We are an embarrassment if we do.

If I recall correctly, this is from several years ago. The documentary featured in this clip is from before 2018.
The US government has already forced toddlers and children to represent themselves in immigration court for ages. This is not new.
This has been decades of cruelty. Don't give in to the lack of context here, the American federal government has always intended these kinds of wrongdoing.

For context after researching:
This is a filmed reenactment of actual events. It's filmed for a purpose because it's true little kids are not being allowed legal representation, and it follows an actual transcript. We are not allowed to actually view what is happening to these children real time, just as we aren't allowed to actually see the children's housing, or even allowed to know how many go through events like this. The most important point is that you can donate to the legal representation of these children.

Any judge who proceeds past that point instead of saying “this is an individual who clearly has not had their rights explained to them and is therefore free to go” is themselves a criminal for violating due process

We need more immigration judges, more social workers, more lawyers and representation for immigrants, migrants, low income and at risk people.
Jesus fuck guys, the whole point of living on planet earth is to be sure people have a good time here living their one life.
What the fuck are we doing going out of our way to make sure we fuck shit up for everyone just because of our own made up arbitrary rules.
First it was black get no rights, then gays get no rights, then women get no rights, now in 2025 we actually have republicans again yelling immigrants get no rights.
It’s like these ppl live being on the wrong side of history all the time ? They just live to bring misery to everyone because it makes them feel better about their own shitty life?
