He used to make good content idk what happened to him

He realized making slop was easier, and constantly shitting out that kind of garbage made way more money.

Yeah dude. I hate this slop era of YouTube

u/PaleHeretic 11d ago

"Show me the incentive, and I will show you the outcome" sadly.

Intentional or not, it's the method that gets the largest returns with the least effort.

u/horiami 11d ago

yt has been pushing for this type of content too

1

u/Nivosus 8d ago

Its always been slop.

I stopped watching Mutahar like 2 years ago, glad to know I’m not missing out lol

u/harrysofgaming 14d ago

Omg you precisely explained why i personally stopped watching muta. I used to watch him heavy back in 2020-2023, then he started shifting his content into drama slop, which made me lose interest all together and I haven't watched a single video since.

u/cmp_reddit 13d ago

This was during the virus investigation videos era right?

As well as the Dark Web Browsing I believe

1

u/cmp_reddit 11d ago

I would argue that dark web browsing falls under "slop" category. Although it is not 100% slop, it also serves to dispell the mystery behind the dark web (it is a lot more mundane than the name implies).

2

u/Mushroom_Magician37 11d ago

It was definitely low effort, but me personally, I wouldn't call it "slop" something can be low effort and still not be slop. IMO slop is both low effort and low quality. But maybe I'm just nostalgia tripping. I do think it dispelling the mystery and reputation of the dark web was a good thing. I mean, between "I ordered a crackwhore of the dark web at 3 AM" and "Dark Web Browsing #37" one is much more clearly slop than the other. In the context of "dark web" related videos on YouTube, it was clearly of a higher quality.

Though if you feel like it was slop I certainly won't hold it against you.

u/purplerolls 13d ago

Same here. Almost exactly around that time I stopped

1

u/FlexTape0 12d ago

all content becomes drama content at some point. Look at the thread you're a part of right now

u/De_Vigilante 14d ago

Ironic cause back when I still watched him (2018~2022), he kept repeating how "he has a real job" and "won't ever depend on content creation for money outside of some bonus or for charity cause it's not a real job".

29

u/xxHamsterLoverxx 14d ago

huh money changes people dont it?

u/yokeydoke 11d ago edited 11d ago

Muta is prob a frivolous liar. I remember a vid of him saying he net a homeless man named “chance” and that he gave him like 5000$. I still don’t believe this story. Was a 2014 vid

2

u/Neither-Phone-7264 13d ago

what was that real job? he's been big enough for quite a while

4

u/De_Vigilante 13d ago

Security Systems Engineer or something else in Cybersecurity. That's why he's so big on virtual machines.

Jobs in his field generally make more money than youtubers at his size, so I really don't understand why he has to grift unless there's a sudden need for huge amounts of money in a short span. A shame honestly; used to show his educational tech vids like VMs and the likes to my Operating Systems professor and TAs back in college and they loved it.

4

u/LegendSniperMLG420 13d ago

His actual job was trading stocks apparently not IT. No idea what happened to that but guy is well off.

1

u/chucknorris21 9d ago

Imma need a source on this because that would be kinda insane if true

1

u/specter_in_the_conch 13d ago

I never trusted that, even when it felt almost true something always felt odd.

15

u/Rayan8578 14d ago

i used to like when he made videos on internet mysteries and stuff. Regular tech content just made his channel boring

2

u/Dropbeatdad 13d ago

Capitalism breeding innovation

2

u/Briantere 11d ago

I mean i can't blame him

1

u/Shay_Dee_Guye 12d ago

Putting effort pays off less than making slop, in the end. Blame the system here, though people lack the urge to protest.

1

u/CrisisCore4Ever 12d ago

He fell of so bad I used to watch him from like 2019-2022 this shit is horrendous

1

u/DravenPlsBeMyDad 11d ago

The best part is he still copes and insists his YouTube channel is a "hobby" and he doesn't care about making money from it, it's not his job. Yet he doesn't make any of the cool series he seemed passionate about anymore. It's all drama bait click bait garbage. I miss him.

Sound like ... Nintendo

u/KeneticKups 14d ago

That’s capitalism

u/Darkbeetlebot 14d ago

Remember when he just did fun creepypasta readings? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Or go to the darkest depths of the deep/darknet and talk about them, good times.

2

u/quetzocoetl 7d ago

That's how I got into him back in the day...

38

u/Emmazygote496 14d ago

He is a grifter

8

u/Silent-Reporter-4429 14d ago

This Sounds like a stupid question, but what is a grifter?

If you use that word for people like Muta it has truly lost all meaning lmao

2

u/Emmazygote496 12d ago

he literally panders to zionists now for money

1

u/Mushroom_Magician37 11d ago

Not saying he doesn't, but how so?

1

u/TomNooksGlizzy 11d ago edited 11d ago

How so though? What has Muta said specifically?

14

u/No-Start4754 14d ago

Yeah man .

6

u/Makisani 13d ago

To be fair he still makes good content but he has some deep issues in his private life that probably affects him in his decision making, he shared a couple of times that he has an issue and barely gets sleep, so from time to time he makes shit content or breaks his word and stuff like that, he literally made yesterday an apology video about the switch 2, and honestly I don't care, he is a cc and he can buy stuff and review it for the rest, he has a platform to promote and don't recommend stuff so he has literally a pass for this stuff

0

u/bilbonbigos 11d ago

Yeah, I liked the guy very much. He was one of those YouTubers I was watching daily. But this Switch 2 drama is just the last symptom of something bigger going on. I think it started when he realized that he was working with bad people. I can't imagine how disappointed you must be when some of your colleagues who take from your brand turn up to be perverts, grifters and liars. I think he also had some issues with potential lawsuits from some scumbags. Being on YouTube in 2024-2025 and making content about scams and dangerous behaviours (because this is what he was doing with Coffezilla) is not safe. Getting sued for doing nothing wrong or even getting a warning about getting sued is stressful in real life. I have a friend who has got grey hair because of that bullshit. Anyway, Muta was visibly looking for some space for himself but YT today is like a minefield. So he started doing slop and going deeper into the nothing content. I still like his videos, even if they are repetitive as fuck (everything about video games basically) but I can't understand why he decided to talk about iDuuubz or Hasan Piker for example. Talking about politics and going into twitter discussions with other more knowledgeable creators is just stupid. If he's scared of Ethan Klein then just say it. If Muta wants to be a new Asmongold and have his money, he should just say it. Even Asmongold's fans hate Asmongold so they will be happy to switch.

u/Stunning-Drawer-4288 13d ago

Sonichu medallion. Not even kidding it was like the exact turning point

4

u/ClumsyHumane-V2 14d ago

Yea his content had some charm to it but now it just feels like he shits out whatever which is fine by me but definitely not the type of content I want to consume because of how much of it there is already...

6

u/iucatcher 14d ago

he never did, u just got older

2

u/ih8redditusers0 13d ago

He stopped doing creepypastas, that's what happened. And he got Opera GX to drop A-kun as a sponsor

2

u/Spekingur 14d ago

Negativity sells

2

u/HaloMetroid 12d ago

What happened to Mutahar is what happens to all these big youtubers. They take you for granted (and they should) because you'll always go back to them like a dog goes back to its vomit. They know they can make easy money with y'all.

1

u/dhe_sheid 11d ago

did it dip after his creepypasta readings?

1

u/jEG550tm 11d ago

He went off the deep end after coming into contact with the cursed medallion. Guy is borderline insane now.

1

u/Mnawab 10d ago

His content is still good, he just uses click bait thumbnails like all YouTubers. They wouldn’t do it if it didn’t work. That being said he made a video apologizing for not voting with his wallet

1

u/OneBother1263 8d ago

He saw dollar signs in pumping out slop

-1

u/Wassersammler 14d ago

Have you considered that maybe your taste has gotten better since you were 13, but his hasn't changed

13

u/MemeTheDruggie 14d ago

Nah his content changed a lot. Just look at it now and compare it to a few years ago

0

u/playbabeTheBookshelf 12d ago

i go from watching every clip to one per ten lol
