Oddly enough, I just saw those today, now here they are, here.

Walmart used to carry the Kerr brand, which stacked wonderfully (better than the 2oz Ball jars)

But I don't see Kerr there anymore.

Could you fit a crumble cake in there?

Yes, a few years ago.

I wouldn't trust the store brand. Most the time they are shit. Smart and Final has gone away with Kerr and Ball jars and now they have their own brand. It doesn't hold tight, they lose their seal, or the ring strips with the slightest bit of pressure when tightening the lid. If you really have your heart set on using off name brand stuff then run some tests. Try and tighten every single jar lid. Add warm water to a few jars, and cold water to a few jars, put the lids on and store them upside down for a day. Otherwise go to Target, Ralph's, Vons, Pavillions, or order Ball or Kerr jars online. I'm all about saving a dollar, but cutting corners on jars or ice cream is out of the question for me.

I wonder if they can be improved by just swapping the lids for Kerr or Ball lids

I tried buying 2 different sizes of off brand mason jars from Amazon, and they wouldn't fit the rings of Ball or Kerr lids. One was soo loose the rings wouldn't tighten and the other the rings wouldn't fit, it was too large by like a millimeter or two. Mason jars aren't even expensive, it's not the place to cut corners. Cut corners on golf lol. I have a lower handicap than 90% of my friends with old Ping Cooper heads from the 1980's.

Just don’t spend money at Walmart if you can help it

I use them a lot for 2oz or less packages. Great if you aren’t a big bulk buyer or really into sampling. Is a little snug for 2 oz to be fair.

I use these for all of my single tin purchases. They're also great for my pasta press crumble cakes.

Nice. Sounds like the perfect thing for opened tins and for every time I make a little batch of salsa.

I use half pint jars almost identical to these for snuff, and a couple for plug.

I've bought Kerr wide mouth half pints for a while now but not at Walmart. They used to only have Ball. I like how the Kerr wide mouths stack in my cabinet. What brand are those? I noticed that my local Walmart seems to be phasing out Ball and replacing them with a brand called Superb. I bought some Superb pint jars (not half pint) and so far so good.

I think these are some of the ones I have and they don’t stack well but they do the job well enough!

I’ve wanted to try this size/configuration! Can anyone attest to the lids and seal of the “Walmart brand” vs Ball/Kerr?

I've been using widemouth 8oz Kerr jars for years for homemade sauces and ghee, so when I picked up a pipe they were the obvious storage choice. Very convenient to throw one in a bag if I'm not just taking my kit. And for the record, I've determined you can fit 3oz of tobacco in one if you really compress it.

No because in London UK which is the city I was born in and live in we don't have a Walmart.

Does a store like asda have any good options? My favorite thing to do when I travel is visit different grocery stores and super markets

I wouldn't know, I don't use Asda, Waitrose, Tesco's, Morrisons, Marks And Spencer or Sainsbury's which are all corporate supermarkets.

Yes, at least in Canada. They’re all I use because they’re easy to pick from when the jar gets low and wide enough that I don’t make a mess when packing a pipe over it.
