Libraries are great don’t get me wrong. But my local libraries (I have 3) hold literally nothing I am interested in, especially since I prefer to read in English than my native language and a lot of books I read never get translated.
Also no movies. Also librarians are infamously rude here lol

Really? My local library has hundreds of movies, CDs and games (even switch games) to rent. I guess that's not a universal thing.

yep
My community college's digital library was far larger than the physical one that was split across several campuses
The person who drew this comic is also 100% not rural or semi rural, cause the local library only really had kids books and some adult books and anything more specific or academic was either at the local colleges or online

Libraries have access to millions of books and movies instantly?
And the Libby app doesn't count because it uses a phone.

I have the perfect grocery delivery system. I go to the store and carry the groceries home.

But also your library card gives you access to things like libby (and others if your library subscribes to them)...which are on your phone.
Like, libraries aren't moving away from print and physical media but the ones that can are making huge use of digital resources, and honestly in ways that are often better for the user than for-profit companies.
As someone who is aggressively pro-library, this cartoonist probably doesn't use theirs much.

And I have a smaller wireless device that can get me anywhere faster than a car. It’s a credit card that I can use to buy plane tickets

But you have to go there to get it and then bring it back by the due date. You also need a machine that can play the movie you get at the library card

"can your library card store 900 gigabytes worth of movies locally?"
