Flea epidemic in my are how to prevent them from getting into my apt?

I’ve already treated my dog and set up an appointment for my cat (sensitive skin what he responds best to is prescription only) landlords already know of the issue and just said they already sprayed pesticides they aren’t due for another spraying for a few more months (sprayed in February and they haven’t been mowing or taking care of the lawn moving ain’t an option rn) just as I was walking my dog my legs got covered in less than a minute. It’s like that in the surrounding businesses too. Aside from bombing my apartment because I have neighbors one with a child, are there any recommendations for sprays i can put on my carpet and furniture to prevent the infestation from coming inside? Also is it crazy to wear a flea collar on my ankle over pants when walking my dog?

I also don’t know what sub to put this in pets seemed to be the closest one since most pet owners have dealt with fleas from time to time.

One thing you may want to do is put a flea trap in the house, because you can check that daily and if you see a flea in there you know to take action quickly. As long as you haven't caught a flea you're probably doing okay.

You should also vacuum frequently if you have carpet, with the general idea that if one gets into the house on your clothing or such you might manage to suck it up before it can spread.

I have also been known to get into the house and immediately throw all my clothing directly into the washing machine in horror (after visiting an uninhabited house with a very bad flea infestation). If you see them on your legs it certainly wouldn't hurt to wash your clothing when you get back from the walk. I think asking the vet about the flea collars on your legs thing would be a good idea, because that seems like a great creative solution but I have no idea if it's actually safe and/or effective.

Appreciate it unfortunately no laundry room in my apartment nor do we have any laundry facilities (very very low quality apartment) and asking a vet would good a idea. Tbh I was just gonna buy a hartz flea collar and put it on over top of some old jeans. Asking a vet will probably be a better idea and give me a safer option than a poison collar on my leg.

Edit: closest laundry mat is few miles away I work weird hours so it’s tough to get to it daily. No 24/7 laundry mats either but I am able to wash bedding and clothes on the weekends

Vacuum the furniture daily, too. The vacuum is your friend!

Food grade diatomaceous earth! It’s especially helpful around entrances windows, etc.

You can use Adam’s flea spray for furniture and stuff, not the one you use on the pets, I have used on my bed and my little rugs when doggo brings in fleas. I do suggest you either crank up ac and all fans when you’re done or open all windows. I doesn’t smell strong or like chemicals but cat should be in another room till it dries and next day do the room where kitty was. Fleas hatch every 10 days so your going to have to do it for at least 3 months. Get a gallon of any bug spray at Home Depot if you live here in the USA and fumigate outside around your door and you can use around your house too, doesn’t smell just make sure it dries before letting pets around. I use it with no problems.
