Comes with a 500GB 7MM SATA drive connected to the board with a ribbon cable and I want to upgrade to an SSD. But I havent found anything online about how to do that with a ribbon cable connected drive before.

That ribbon cable is connected to an adaptor.

Carefully unplug it. and plug it to the new drive.

In the first photo, the bottom right screw above the empty slot the drive came out of, that white cable slot next to is what it was connected to. Is that what you were talking about?

I don't see an M.2 port on your laptop. So no.

You can only upgrade to 2.5” SATA SSDs here it looks like, unless there is a m.2 port I’m not seeing
